Amazing out-of-the-way place (near the airport) with a great selection of food. I had the katsudon (one of my favorite Japanese dishes) and it was ichiban. To top it off, the atmosphere was great. I really had a hard time deciding what to try, so I guess I will have to go back...maybe several times!

Went with a small group and truthfully was not sure what to expect. But wow, the food there was incredible. I had the Gyūdon with a bowl of clear onion soup, salad, and an order of Iwataya rolls. Everyone enjoyed their food and loved the grocery store right next door. I will definitely be going back.

I love the rice balls, and katsu pork cutlet in curry. The sushi is better than the standard fare locally.

Never disappointed here. It's traditional Japanese, and reminds me of many restaurants in Japan.

Really great sushami and sushi rolls. Everything tastes fresh and the menu options all looked pretty authentic.

We sat in traditional Japanese style seating (shoes off and sitting at table). They also have tables and chairs. This was very relaxing. My spouse got a ginger chicken bento box and I got the katsumiso and one with temporary soft shell crab. All the food tasted really good! I will come back and try other items on their menu. The staff was very friendly. Their menu has both Japanese and descriptions if what is in each roll. I also appreciated the pictures of what each item looks like.

Love eating at 岩田屋 (Iwataya). If you are looking for authentic Japanese food that tastes delicious, this is the place to go.

The only real japanese restaurant. They just need some more choices.

Iwataya is in a class of their own for Japanese food in this area. The have an expansive menu and the service during our latest visit was impeccable. The entire staff was friendly and everyone was attentive. The interior has great ambiance, and you could easily bring a small or large party. I would thoroughly recommend any of their sushi dinners. The sea scallops are delicious but a smaller portion. The tempura dinners are also a consistently great choice.

Authentic Japanese in southern Indiana - wow! I highly recommend it. We started with the special seafood okonomiyaki. Nice, but I wished there was a little bit less okonomiyaki sauce on top, just my preference. The champon ramen was very good. Inaniwa udon had wonderfully textured noodles but the broth was a bit salty for my preference
