I like ikinari steak better

Good food. String beans were pricey ($4) for the portion size, same goes to the "large" salad ($7). Leaving a review because I was impressed by the Japanese toilet, nice warm seat that felt amazing. Definitely try the bathroom when you are there. And the sambal pepper rice.

Pretty good food. Portions we're just right. These types of restaurants are becoming more popular in the city so if it's your first time remember that all cuts come out rare and you cook them to your desired preference. Staff was kind but they do make you pay in advance....a little annoying.

We went for lunch! So glad we found this place, great service, fast, clean, and the food was delicious!! The experience was fun, cooking right in front of you, and the steak was a great cut. We will definitely recommend it to others and will go back.

Its been a while since I've been to a Pepper Lunch in Japan, but as far as I can remember this one is very comparable, but I don't think the menu is the same. Quick and easy. I'm very glad they opened a location in NYC.

Pepper Lunch just opened up last week. The food here is pretty good. You order and pay for your food and you take your seats. Then they bring out your food on hot cast iron plates. You turn over your meat and control the coooking rate yourself. It was kind of fun. The wait time was minimal and the service was great. The choice of sauce selection was nice too. I highly recommend asking for the onion and pepper sauce that usually comes with the salad. Worth checking out and would definitely come back here again.

Decently priced grill your own steak style sit down meal. Depending on what additional toppings you'd like, the price tag can go from $$ to $$$ real fast. Definitely a good portion size with the rice addition. No need for instructions as they have TVs on display that loops the different ways you can go about cooking the food. Highly recommend the sirloin over the rib eye if you dont want to wait too long for your meat to cook!

Got the take out steak over rice with corn. Pretty good. Not a huge portion and cost $16 but tastes good.

For those who have savoured the food at other locations around the world, I am glad to report this NYC branch is sticking to it's winning formula. The restaurant was relatively empty but my guess is it's the location. The food was great. We tried the jumbo classic, the eel, and the kimchi cheese. Everyone was satisfied.
