Really cool place lots of different rooms. The service and food are amazing. The hostess that greeted me on the second floor was my only negative experience but other than that it is definitely a great place for seafood.

Fun place to eat. Lots of history. Friendly staff. Enjoy visiting whenever we're in Charleston.

So despite our large party of 7 on a Saturday early afternoon we were seated after only a 15 minute wait. Given that Hymans is very popular and it was fairly crowded inside, I was pleasantly surprised. Hush puppies are amazing. I ordered shrimp and grits and it was blah. I have had shrimp and grits from tons of restaurants and this was probably the worst. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their food so O attribute the issue to just the dish I had. My husband especially enjoyed his fish dish (uploaded a photo of it). Will return to try something else on the menu at some point when I visit Charleston again.

Food tastes frozen. Servers are overworked. This place is a tourist trap. I'm giving 3 stars because the building and the decor is fun for tourists and the fried tomatoes were the best I have had.

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent price. Worth the wait outside for 15 minutes. We were greeted into the bustling restaurant and sat at a table with the names of the ceberities who ate their imprinted on the table. Waiter gave us his recommendations and off we went. The food was delicious and definitely one of the best southern food we’ve had anywhere. The owner of the restaurant also came up to us and said hi and asked us about our experience, and it seemed like he did that to all the customers, which was very nice

Shrimp 'n grits were great!! Waiter brought out a bowl of boiled peanuts while we waited! (be careful if you have an allergy!) Atmosphere was really relaxed, and there were name plates on the tables of famous people that had visited there! The owner came around to thank us for visiting! Will definitely be back!!

Amazing!!! Their hush puppies are the best I've ever had. Emily was the best server as well. Cant wait to tell my family back home.

Incredible service!! We had an amazing experience here! Tried the seafood platter scampi style. It was stunning. Our server MADE the experience memorable! We will definitely be back!!!

Heard great things and tonight was our first time eating here! Awesome customer service and awesome food! Our waitress was exceptional. She took her time explaining different things on the menu and seemed to genuinely want us to have a great experience! And we did! Can't wait to come back!

We were roped in with a sample of their hush puppies, offered to us by the “Hush Puppy King” who was extremely nice. I ordered the fried scallops and collard greens and they were excellent! Our waitress (younger blonde girl) was absolutely fantastic! This place is definitely one of my new favorites :)

Mostly fried food. The fried fish tastes like the fried oysters, the fried shrimp, the french fries, the fried everything else. Its very a very busy tourist trap with a wait to get in. The bar sells drinks by the ounce. A Ketel One vodka martini was one ounce of vodka in a plastic glass for nine bucks. I should have seen this as a preview of the rest of the evening at Hyman's. The service is decent in the sense that once you get a table, you'll be outta there in no time. Get 'em in, get 'em out as quickly as possible. Some of our food came out room temperature, which tells me that they make giant batches of whatever, and it's served as it's ordered. You're required to exit through the gift shop, so they can squeeze another coupe bucks out of tourists. Look around the neighborhood for alternatives. There are many.

Came here (November 8) with a coworker for dinner. Being that they had high reviews we were excited to try it. We were greeted outside with fresh hush puppies and a 10-15 min wait. Once we were seated the service was great and our server was very attentive. I ordered the calamari as an appetizer and it was standard. I wouldn’t say it was fresh more so frozen and fried. I ordered the catfish (which was fish #3 that night) and got it fried. I assumed it would have been a whole catfish as it didn’t specify fillets. It came out as fillets which is ok as I LOVE fried catfish. The fish was good but it was fried as hard as I like it. The sides I got was coleslaw and fried okra. The fried okra a miss as the battering was off.. other than those issues I would most likely come back to try something else from the menu.

Hyman’s is certainly an experience. They have 2 floors of notable patrons and luminaries, past and present, decorating their walls. The atmosphere is cozy yet buzzing. You can find southern hospitality and old world charm here and def. good fish. May not be on the trip advisor top 10 list but it’s more reasonably priced with one of the most ambitious, exhaustive, and exciting menus when it comes to seafood! Worth the visit!

The wait here will definitely be long, like maybe an hour, but what can you expect with the awesome reviews this place has? My meal came out absolutely perfect. I love the non traditional seating too with an upstairs seating section and the celebrity name plates on the table. The owners are so friendly as well and make you feel welcome by coming around to the tables to check on you. My only complaint is it’s a little pricey and some may consider portions smaller depending on what you order, but the meal is well worth it taste wise!

Top stars all around! We came for an early supper and just walked right in. ALL the staff was super friendly and our server was exceptional! The atmosphere and tables with name plates was really neat and exciting! The owner came around and made conversation with us; such a nice gesture! Best of all, they paid special attention to my 9 & 7 year old making them feel special. This place was highly recommended and now I am HIGHLY recommending as well!
