Hungry Badger Cafe

We've been here multiple times and had great food every time. It seems everything on their menu is delicious, but I recommend the momos (dumplings) above all else. They have four different types, including vegetarian, classic, alu, and Badger. The Badger is a local type with brat meat in it. Go try them all! Add johl or chili to them too. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu though.

Delicious, incredible lunch! Service was friendly, food was amazing, and the place is comfortable. Jhol momo was one of the best things I've eaten on State Street for a long time (and I work downtown so have been to a ton of places).

It all started with the warm welcome by our host and server and followed by a freshly-squeezed juice. Then came the appetizer - a first sign that this cuisine is home-made grade! The delicious entrées solidified our conviction that this was an unequivocal 5-star dining experience! I would return to Madison just to relive this!

Tons of vegetarian/vegan options. The chai tea and 8 bean soup are not to be missed on a cold winter's day! Super friendly family run business.

We ordered the Rice Bowl, described as "fragrant buttery wild rice pilaf with cranberries topped off with either juicy ginger turmeric chicken or tofu" and the Badger Momo (added Jhol Momo, so our Badger Momo dumplings came in a savory sesame based broth) and both dishes were amazing! I was blown away by the rice bowl, the combination of flavors were definitely something to write home about....maybe even several letters home.Beautiful and charming view if you get a spot by the window--though the cafe itself is very beautiful. Overall I really love second-floor restaurants on State Street, they feel like hidden gems!Also the owner (I believe) was serving several tables and also doing all the cooking, very impressed seeing as the food still came out quickly.

Do yourself a favor and try this place out. Just went to HungryBadger Cafe today for the first time. I had an order of the Classic Momo, Badger Momo, and the Chicken Rice Bowl. All three of my options were fantastic. Clean atmosphere, food that is clearly made from scratch, and awesome service! Looking forward to trying more on their menu!

Staff friendly and accommodating Food is Great, Fresh, and healthy. All homemade with apparent Love for each dish. Yummy and satisfying.

I stopped to get take-out here! The Rice Bowl was exactly what I wanted for a hot meal on a cold night. HungryBadger is owned by an amazing local family that I know personally. They want to bring good food to good people. Stop in alone or with a big group - they will welcome you all!

Excellent meal! Went with several friends to try something new close to campus on a weeknight. Once we placed our order, everything came out quick. Delicious momo of many flavors were shared around the table: beef, chicken, and bratwurst. Can't wait to go back!

Absolutely wonderful atmosphere! Beautiful energy! Amazing staff!! And the food is authentic as authentic gets! Hungry badger is a beautiful spot to take a friend/loved one & eat absolutely wonderful food at a very reasonable price!! You get such great food for such a low cost! Highly recommend this place!! If you haven’t eaten here, you have to!!

Super friendly people running the place and the dumplings were delicious! I'd recommend ordering a few different plates of Momo to share. Living a block away is proving to be dangerous...

So fantastic! I had the dumplings with the Brats in them. Great combination and the spicy mustard was a perfect match. The chicken rice bowl was a perfect blend of flavors. Definitely not spicy but just a mouth full of flavors. Highly recommend.

I ate at this restaurant last week and it was a great experience overall. The setting of the restaurant was aesthetic and portrayed a Nepali cultural theme. Their Momos (Nepali dumplings) were very tasty and I would highly recommend trying them if you are to make a visit there. The staff were very welcoming, nice, and helpful. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.
