Hunan House Gourmet Chinese

I was pleasantly delighted! It is easy to see that this restaurant was once a very solid 5 Star rating, however, based on the first impressions of the entry way, the short wait at the unattended host/hostess stand and short music track which played the same songs in a 30-minute loop, I rated a 4 - albeit a very strong 4. The food was very good, arrived piping hot and was absolutely worth the wait. Wait staff was attentive and the atmosphere was elegantly decorated.

Be prepared to be transported back to 1968 with the classical jazz music and historic oriental decor. Service here isn't swift or staffed up. Much in need of an aesthetic and operational facelift, the menu makes up the lacking parts of Hunan House. All of our items came out hot and made to order. The General Tso's isn't a new or novel take on a classic but is a reliable choice, just flavorful and spicy enough to keep getting it every time you come. If you want more spice or a non-breaded option, the Hunan Chicken is the edgier option on the menu. If you like some noodles with your meal, the Pad Thai delivers in rich spades.

An amazing place to eat and relax! We went after a stressful day and it was so nice to have quiet music, a lovely atmosphere and great food. It's an "old school" restaurant where they can seat large parties and have the tables far enough apart that you can have a conversation with your companion without trying to talk over the people at the next table. No TV's or loud music to distract you so you can actually spend time talking to the one you came with. The food is always good and fairly priced.
