Amazing date night, it was late and we could not find good dining. I am glad we came here. They also cater to Gluten sensitivity. Best server and best experience . Food was amazing

Great vibe and delicious oysters. Place looks and feels like a blast from the past in a good way. Only issue is the well drinks are pretty pricey. Easy to run up a big tab!

Hugo's is pretty good. Those crab cakes were massive! The escargot was delicious. Get savory and the sauce was super rich. Almost a little too greasy... The frog legs were amazing. Tender and sweet! The crab cakes and the frog legs were definitely my favorite things that night!

Ended up here because the other restaurant to which we had planned to go was packed. It was a Saturday evening and we went to the bar. The bartender was fantastic and there was something about the old-school charm of it all that I really liked. We enjoyed ourselves so much that I forgot to take pictures. We shared oysters and a few other appetizer dishes. Everything tasted good and the drinks were made strong, which is a plus. It's really the atmosphere that put it at 4 stars. The restuarant was extremely busy (and tight fit between the tables!) by the time we left around 9p. It did cost us a pretty penny.

Nice ambience and very affable service. The menu was crisp and delicious. Will clearly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Affordable rates and generous portions. Great work.

Our friends suggested their favorite seafood restaurant for a group dinner. They recommended an early dinner to avoid the waiting line since the restaurant doesn't take reservations. So we got there shortly after 5pm on a Friday and our party of four were immediately seated. 3:00-6:00 happy hour was wonderful. The oysters were only $1during this time. The service was consistent and the oysters delicious. We were allowed to order a two dozen eat a time. While we were waiting for the first order to arrive a basket of bread was brought to the table. When the oysters arrive we were brought crackers, hot sauce, plates a discard bowl, and two sauces on ice with the oysters. The bathrooms have attendants it is a good thing to be aware of (I wish someone had told me when I first went). We arrived right when happy hour started and there were plenty of tables. The tables filled up very quickly. The bar area is pretty tight on space.

We stopped in on Sunday evening, and were surprised to find it was Happy Hour, with $1.00 oysters in the bar area.The oysters were great, and the mussels were phenomenal (and the reason we went initially).Even though it was VERY busy, the service was phenomenal! Highly recommend.

Wonderful, delicious food, incredible staff and service. The decor is super funky. The portions are huge! Best crab cakes I’ve ever had! Shockingly, they made me love the Brussels sprouts too (the bacon could have something to do with it). Everything was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be back!

Great food and well priced. If you want a Gibson steak but don’t want to pay Gibson’s prices for things like apps, drinks, and desserts, this is the place for you. Staff was polite, efficient, and helpful with suggestions.

Huge portions! I love the cake and steak. The crab cake is the best and I am still thinking about it. The twice baked potato was good. Service is great!

We had a fantastic experience! It was so special to come for a birthday and sit at the elevator table. Our server Bob was so accommodating and helpful. The salmon and sundae was amazing. Definitely our favorite seafood place in Chicago!!

Kudos to Server Bob. He was excellent! The host staff was friendly and accommodating. (Plenty of spinach and carrot cake to eat for days later.) Outstanding Birthday dinner. Thanks "Hugo"!!!

Place is nice, not sure if it's as cozy as I expected it to be. Food is good. Oysters are incredible! Service is a little Americanized. You feel like "What do you want, everything ok?, what else before the bill". Not sure if I'd come back or recommend it.
