Been here only 2 times and tried 1 day for sushi only and the sushi is really goood and the other tried normal food and that's also spectacular. The visuals are nice on the food and restaurant and it's something I'd highly recommend for sushi and Asian food 🙌💪

They are open pretty late so great for your late night hunger pangs. I liked the hot sour soup, thought it was unique and really well done. Our service was excellent as well.

Food here is fresh and very yummy! Again, I was too hungry to take pictures, sorry! Definitely try the Cajun Spring rolls & J- Pops off the appetizer menu. I visited 2 times while I was in NOLA for business, had sushi both times. Picture attached is the sushi called the super dome, if you're a fan of crabmeat and salmon go for it. I requested Sriracha & Eel sauce on mine, for a little extra kick! Definitely a place to visit, open till 2am.

Here's a bit of trivia about this quiet, low-key restaurant. It was originally built to be a hotel. Apparently, that didn't work out so the owner purchased the building and opened the restaurant in 2018. I have been several times for lunch and the staff has generally been attentive and friendly while the food has always been tasty. I hear it can get quite lively at nighttime, if that's your thing. I'm not sure if the service suffers during later hours. Long story short---give a try. You'll enjoy it, more likely than not. 👍

Good night stop but doesn't taste authentic. Heavy sauces, more American than Asian. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Anyway, service is good, very kind people, but service on Sunday night was very slow.

First, they were open on Christmas Day - Great; we didn't have to spend Big bucks to eat dinner. The Miso soup brought back some happy memories of some dinners while in Japan and the Mongolian Beef was delicious with just the right amount of spicy heat.

We drive pass Hoshun every time we come into NOLA and it has never been on our list to visit. But we woke at 10pm from an evening nap and needed a late night eatery for dinner. Hoshun was a few blocks away so we walked to it. At 10:45pm, we were surprised that the restaurant was busy but there was no wait even though 3 other couples came in at the same time. Johnny, our server, was very friendly and we got our order pretty quickly. The Mongolian beef was average but the Buddha Belly specialty roll was excellent!! I really liked that I had the choice of 3 sauces to dip each piece in before rolling it in the crunch flakes. Yummy!!! I’m contemplating coming back for Happy Hour from 10pm to 1 am on Tuesday night.Update 11/27/19: we did return last night during Happy Hour and thumbs up to their salmon roll & tuna avocado roll!

Thoroughly enjoy this restaurant. The food is excellent. Cajun spring rolls are tasty, sweet and sour soup excellent and the prices are very budget friendly especially during the 3-6pm happy hour. The lunch sashimi portion sizes are a little small and the Wasabi Tampico portions are just a little too big.Atmosphere is relaxed and parking can be challenging, but generally you can find a spot in the back or side street.

I was skeptical at first. Hoshun has Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai dishes, will they be good at all these Asian dishes. I have tried at least one dish for each country. I love their Chinese dishes, esp. General Tso's Chicken, Ton Po Pork Shank, Beef Chow Fan and Up chow. I have tried all of their entrees and I was not disappointed at all. There were only two times that I felt bad -- 1) when I ordered Pho with beef and meat balls. I think the meatballs were not fresh and I had mild diarrhea for 2 days. and 2) when I ordered their special fried with dried fish or something. This was not on their menu, but offered on a board at the entrance, The fried rice was oily and there were only small bits of fish on it. Hoshun is still one of my favorite places, esp. that even on holidays like Thanksgiving Day, Christmas day, New Year's Day, etc. when most of the other restaurants are closed, it is open.

I love this place. I have been coming here for a while. Very low key. The staff provides excellent customer service from the time you walk in and from the moment you walk out. Waiter remembers my order. Hoshun is one of my favorite places in New Orleans.

Questions & Answers

Thanks for your help everyone. I did call the restaurant, but the person who answered was not knowledgable about gluten-free diets or suitable items on the menu for people with food allergies. We decided to try it anyway because you can always get steamed or stir-fry veggies and tofu. Fortunately, our server was very knowledgable about the cuisine and the preparation methods, so we felt comfortable ordering. We had omnivores, pescetarians, and a vegan with a gluten allergy. We all found something on the menu we could eat and (mostly) enjoy. Unfortunately, although the lemongrass curry soup was a good option for a vegan gluten-free diet, it wasn't very flavorful and needed a fair amount of salt to bring out any flavor that was there. Given the high prevalenace of food allergies and high demand for delicious vegan dishes, hopefully Hoshun will accommodate special diets with more diverse offerings in the near future.

Happy hours at Hoshun Restaurant. Monday through Sunday. 3:00pm - 6:00pm: $1.25 sushi; $2.99 sushi rolls 2 for 1 select beers, glasses of wine, hot sake.
