Hearth & Vine Cafe at Black Star Farms

The Better Hearth had been recommended to me by a friend and I must say it was well worth a visit. We are currently renovating a property and need more than one fireplace. We found the staff to be very knowledgeable and helpful plus there is an extensive range of fireplaces. Even when we returned home and had more questions, they were only a phone call away. I would not hesitate in recommending them to others.

Very friendly and informative service without any hard sell. The installers were very professional and careful to minimise the mess. They remained available for questions and advice. Very satisfied with the result.

So happy to have found this shop in Islington! I searched in vain for weeks online trying to figure out what all I needed to buy and find an installer. From the moment I walked in, Amanda was so helpful. She explained all the different options in terms of stoves, cast iron inserts etc. Amanda was able to get us a slot for a survey and installation really quick. Michael did a fabulous job with the installation and handled a couple of unforeseen issues that cropped up quickly and without any fuss. All in all an amazing experience. Fair price and great service. Highly recommend

Nice shop but to be fair not great or very useful customer service. The moment the shopkeeper realised I wasn’t going to make a purchase on the day he seemed totally disinterested in helping me (even if ultimately after working with a builder I might well have come back to buy something).

We visited Better Hearth today after finding their information on the Stovax website. We said we were looking to get a wood burning stove and asked if we could ask a few questions. The salesperson told us that he didn’t give advice for free and that if we became a customer and paid a deposit, only then could we learn if the stove could actually be installed in our home. We felt that he didn’t think we were serious buyers (we are). Perhaps as we are a young couple he didn’t think we were the type of people to actually be buying a stove? We were essentially asked to leave. It was by far the worst experience we’ve ever had in a London shop, and quite shocked us.

I went into the shop without knowing what I wanted. I found their staff very helpful and informative. A purchase well made! I would highly recommend them.

The owner was very knowledgeable about the great variety of products they had and gave me excellent advice as to what would suit my needs and my home. The product I decided on was high quality and the installation was quick and done to a high standard. Having visited many fire shops in London I can honestly say this was by far the most professional with great customer service. Would definitley recommend Better Hearth to friends and family.

1st time I've ever written a review for anything, the the service was so good that I just had to do it. Had been looking for a stove for a while, and the help given to us by Amanda at the Better Hearth was first class. She gave us all the help and information without being too pushy. Once we decided exactly what we wanted she took a deposit and arranged for a builder to visit us. the builder 'Mark,' gave us so much confidence that it would look perfect without too much disruption. We were worried about our chimney breast needing to be knocked out as we had recently decorated, but he assured us that when he had finished we would not even know that builders had been. He was certainly true to his word, I have never had workmen of any kind in my house take so much care to keep disruption to a minimum, and the work was absolutely first class.

Excellent all round. From planning to installation to scheduling. Highly recommended.

I must thank Amanda and Jack from The Better Hearth, and their installer Mike, for trying their best and making so much effort to help us having our defective electric fire replaced at a reduced price. Our fire stopped working just after its warranty expired and, without their help, we would have had to pay the full amount for a new fire and for its installation. I rarely come across people with so much dedication and integrity these days.
