One night in Okubo, Tokyo I wanted to try something different for dinner. I searched out a local restaurant and found HaruKoro, an Ainu restaurant featuring the regional ethnic cuisine of Hokkaido. The place is small and cozy with both a counter and table seating. There seemed to be some local regular customers but they welcomed me and made an effort to help me choose items to eat and drink. The most exciting was grilled venison, deer meat from Hokkaido. I tried both their local sake and beer too. Good, simply prepared foods and drink and welcoming hospitality.

Good interesting food, English menu. I had a nice time there. The price for sides is overpriced for the amount you get, yet the mains are well priced and yummy. Definitely recommend if you are after something different.
