Hanzo Izakaya

Great little spot for a different spin on Japanese small plate cuisine. Decor is clean and sleek, inspired by the “Crazy 88” scene in Kill Bill, as claim on their website (and aren’t lying! It’s definitely the “Kill Bill Bar”, the food is great quality, and not too pricey, so you can take two to three plates to try out different things. Decent wine options; cocktails are a bit hit or miss (as some days only specific cocktails seem to be available).My fave menu items (all under $10)Tomato Sarada: kumato, sushi rice croutons, ships, yuzu, shallots, smoked tomato dashi vinaigrette.KFC (Konbini Fried Chicken): black pepper and achiote fried chicken, aji amarillo aioli. Agedashi Tofu: fried tofu, tentsuyu sauce, katsoubushi.If your tight on time for lunch in Old Montreal, service is pretty quick and staff is super friendly. Small terrace outside makes these lunch hours even better.

Have been meaning to come here for a while. Did a group reservation (it's highly recommended :) and came here with colleagues during lunch. I love the decor here, the lighting, and the sound level (low) of the music. The staff is very friendly, considerate, and have good recommendations. The menu has a nice range of Japanese dishes, the dinner menu is even more evolved, offering more choice for food and drinks. Everything I tried (ramen, edamame and black gyoza) was delicious. I will definitely come back here.

Had a selection of Yakatori sticks and the black gyozas. Everything was delicious and fairly priced. The service was very friendly and the decor/ambiance is amazing. Very dark and warm. I really enjoyed it. Nice cocktail list and selection of Japanese whiskey.

We loved the tasting menu , great food and amazing atmosphere. The staff was very helpful and had awesome motivation. 10/10 would recommend !

Fantastic experience. We asked for the chef selection and got 6 really different plates. The food is authentic and well made. The offer a large selection of sake. The service was fast and the staff is friendly. We reserved online through their website.

One of the best dinners I've had in the city. If you haven't been here yet, go. Now. The menu is innovative and the staff makes great recommendations and also pace the meal perfectly.

Amazing and well crafted delicious food, variety of well balanced beautiful cocktails and mocktails, perfect attentive service from the whole team, and the ambiance/décor is so on point!So glad I celebrated my birthday here last night, would highly recommend for special occasions or for just a casual night out.Prices are more than reasonable, they were super accommodating for dietary restrictions, and their online reservation system was really smooth and hassle free. My group left talking about the next time we would be back.Thank you!!

One of the best Japanese food in MTL! I’ve been twice and second time to celebrate my birthday. Great vibes, music, friendly staff and Yuri is amazing! They made my birthday dinner really special night. They also have a great sake collection. Definitely recommended!

Our new favourite izakaya in Montreal. Beautifully styled, mouthwatering menu (we tried most items and enjoyed every single one of them), drink menu is styled after the Kill Bill movies and can knock you out as quickly as Una Thurman. Strongly advise for a date night or a friends gettogether!

A Kill Bill inspired Japanese bar in the core of old port ! Very pleasant place to hang out for a birthday party, nice decor and good ambiance. Many tables were doing saké bombs, but we had small tapas and cocktails instead. Loved the skewers of grilled mochi with bacon, and all the cocktails named after Kill Bill characters (like Gogo, Bill, Buck) . Will definitely be back !
