I was visiting from Dallas, and a friend took me to Grunauer, saying it is one of his top 4 favorite local dining places. The cocktails were wonderfully unique. The atmosphere was historically kept in tact and a nice eclectic mix of cultural decor. I loved the building! Our server was very friendly, apologizing that their daily special was sold out (we were late night diners) but she gladly recommended a nice entree and it was great. Nice, intimate dining experience!

They were great during restaurant week but sitting at the bar and eating happy hour or late night happy hour bites whole drinking from the wide tap list is just a great Kansas City experience. But really, they have a reverse happy hour item literally called Midnight Soup. What's better in the world?

In KC there aren't many German or Austrian restaurants. Being one of the only 2 I've been to(or even heard of), Grünauer definitely has the edge. From a well priced menu to amazing food and even better drinks. The wait staff was extremely helpful to everyone and could explain everything on the menu with a good understanding of it all. I can't remember the servers name we had, but he was phenomenal and would definitely go back again.
