The variety and breadth of the menu is overwhelming but the wonderful employee manning the front desk helped me narrow down my choices. I ordered my food to go and it was fantastic - wonderful flavors and perfectly cooked. I bet it's even better when eaten in house, moments after its prepared! My husband appreciated the many authentic options and I thought their more traditional "American style" Chinese offerings were well executed. It's a bit out of the way for us but the quality is worth the drive... This is our new go-to Chinese restaurant.

Delicious, authentic Chinese food. The people are nice and welcoming. Go with a group so you can order several different dishes. These interior definitely needs an update but the food is worth it.

Unique, served family style, authentic cuisine. We went as a party of four, ordered steamed dumplings, cumin lamb, eggplant with garlic sauce, tea smoked duck, as well as the noodles. Each dish was well prepared, and a large bowl of white rice also came with our orders. It is a nice change to go and try so many unique, well prepared dishes in one sitting. My favorite, was the eggplant in garlic sauce! On the negative, the restaurant is badly in need of updating, but it is also part of the charm. Be sure to go with a group, so you can sample several of their specialities!

The food was absolutely delicious! It was extra appreciated that the manager walked over to us to talk about the menu. He was very kind and took the time to help us find something that we would really enjoy, and he was completely right !! I got the Pecan Shrimp....it was fried shrimp with cantaloupe and pecans in a sweet sauce! I highly recommend this restaurant for either sit-down or to-go

Authentic Chinese food and wonderful place to eat family style. The yang chou fried rice is a must get - tastes good enough to rival those in Asia. Specials also always taste great when we try them. Service here is always very fast and polite and prices, extremely reasonable. My favorite Chinese restaurant in Chapel Hill!

This is definitely one of the best Chinese places in my opinion in an near the Chapel Hill area... try the specialty menu in chinese usually written on the board as you walk in... also make sure to go for the dinner menu. Dinner dishes are larger and usually can feed 2 people. Dinner menu is a half chinese half english menu but so worth it when you find the right dish... Best shared family style as the plate sizes are larger than single person lunch plates. By the way you can also order it chinese spicy if you like it that way.

I’m writing this while I am sitting here eating the food. I used to come here a lot years ago when it was a different restaurant (a Chinese buffet). I read the reviews on this establishment and saw both good and bad, and decided to give it a try. We were quickly seated, and served. My guess is total time from entry to food on table was just under 10 minutes. The order was right and the food tasted great. Both times when I emptied my drink glass they took it from me before it could hit the table. Everyone here was super nice. I know we all have different experiences, but mine definitely earned the five stars. I will surely return.

Seeing this rated as 4.2 stars was one of the most shocking and offensive moments of my life. Gourmet Kingdom is, bar none, the greatest Chinese restaurant and perhaps the greatest restaurant I have ever been to. There is nowhere else in the Triangle you can get food like this, and it’s no wonder I count myself among a growing legion of loyal fans.Recommendations: Twice-cooked pork, Szechuan Spicy Fish, Lotus Root, Mapo Tofu - and for those of you with less tolerance for spice, the Kung Pao Chicken also slaps.

Gourmet Kingdom, or Gourmet Kholesterol, is one of my favorite Chinese eateries in the RTP area. Specializing in Szechuan cooking, GK contains a wide variety of authentic dishes - ranging from different proteins and vegetables. Here are some recommendations; Spicy 🌶 Szechuan Spicy Fish, Pecan Shrimp 🍤 , Twice Cooked Pork 👌🏼, Stringed Beans, Garlic Eggplant 🍆, and Mapo Tofu are all great dishes. However, I strayed from the typical pathing and got a soup this time. I tried two: Spicy Beef Noodle Soup and the Seafood Rice Noodle Soup. Both provide excellent portion sized. The spicy one definitely has some spice and heat to it. The seafood one is a little bland for my liking but definitely just for some chili 🌶 oil and douse that ish in like no tomorrow. It’s pretty good. But definitely try that beef noodle soup (comparable or even better, IMO, to Vietnamese Bun Bo Hue). Both are around $8.25 per bowl, definitely bigger servings than any Pho restaurants in the area. Try it 🤤

Questions & Answers

Probably not safe

I know spicy lamb noodles is not on their menu. But I don't see why you cannot ask for spicy noodles with lamb in it. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, you still have an opportunity to try something else at this place!
