Their egg rolls are amazing. The rest of the food was lack luster... ordered their general Tao which was basically chicken dumplings in thai chilli sauce, nothing near any general tao I have ever had, and not good. The beef in black bean sauce was way over cooked, the beef was so dry and the peppers were mush. Thankfully that is all we tried. Only give it 3 stars because the egg rolls are so good that I would go back again and only order those.

The egg rolls get all the glory, but I'm not a big fan of them myself - my son and nephew love them. I love the rest of the Canadian Chinese cuisine. We have been hooked on combo #5 for a long time.

General Tao Toufic is fantastic. (5/5) Wonton soup is good too. (5/5) Lemon Chicken has no taste. (1/5) Package bags are easy to tear apart. Box for main course is very bad, sauce from the dish leaked every where. (2/5)

Always a great choice to grab the split, double fried egg rolls from golden palace. Place has not changed in decades. Always fast and fantastic service.

Personally would not come back here again. I ordered the menu for two (about $42). It included a soup, the famous spring roll, fried rice and chow mein). Overall it was disappointing. The rice tasted like it was made a few days ago. And the spring roll although generous with the meat filling- I honestly could not understand the hype. I looked forward to tasting the famous spring rolls but they left alot to be desired.

This place barely needs an introduction. Here's what I can tell you, their retro decor has taste! Love that not much has changed, and love the uniforms, in my eyes it's all part of the experience. I'd like to highlight their pineapple chicken balls. My favorite dish for over 25 years at this point. Their eggrolls are known throughout North America at this point. If you haven't been, drop by and grab a dozen eggrolls, some chicken balls (handmade not like the premade ones at every other Chinese food restaurant in Ottawa), and some chicken Chow Mein. You won't be disappointed!

Delicious food and attentive staff. There were 12 people in our group, one with a Gluten free requirement, and our waiter was very helpful in identifying a variety of menu items which would please everyone.

I really like their egg roles. I had the chicken balls, chicken fried rice and Chicken almond guy ding and they were okay. The sauce for the egg roles is terrible. I also find it too expensive for the portions that you get. The orders come in a medium sized Styrofoam container for $16 roughly for each thing you order. I thought they would come in taller containers.... I'd go back for the egg roles though.

Always grab some take out egg rolls when in Ottawa, best egg rolls anywhere. Wife loves the egg rolls with their plum sauce, I like mine plain, 6 egg rolls to go makes a nice snack for two.

The best egg rolls in the city of Ottawa, but with a price, a dozen egg rolls with tax is $27. These egg rolls are not small, if you eat 2, or 3, you will be feeling pretty satisfied. They're always busy with take out orders. The outside and inside could use a fresh coat of everything, but true, the food is still amazing.Just picked up a dozen egg rolls and my mouth is watering as I write this review.

I know times are different at the moment but Golden palace needs to change the way they there operate and keep customers and staff safe. When you order you are told the order will be ready in 10-15 minutes but they neglect to tell you that there is also a 20+ min line outside of the restaurant to get your order. Further, there is no apparent attempt to sanitize the waiting areas asised from offering you a squirt of hand sanitizer as you are handed the debit machine. The food is quite descent but if they allowed you to pay over the phone, the line could be eliminated. Right now in particular, there is nothing worse than standing around for 20 min with a bunch of strangers waiting for your takeout order.

I heard that the mayor often puts up the egg rolls in this slightly blast-from-the-past city landmark as the prize when he makes bets with other mayors, so naturally I had to try them. They are genuinely the best egg rolls I've ever had. Just crazy good.I ordered a main afterwards, but it was a bit in the so-so side, so I should have started with two egg rolls and then just had four more as my main.Seriously. Try the egg rolls.

Wow! What a wonderful place! Staff are wonderful and fantastic! The location is lovely with such a warm and fun decor. The food is outstanding, high quality ingredients. Lots of meat, almonds in abundance and delicious vegetables. Absolutely worth it! Looking forward to come again!
