Gaspar's Grotto is often referred to as " The must see establishment in Tampa for visitors". It is perennially named one of the World's Best Bars. Located centrally in Historic Ybor City, it is the best place in town for visitors to get a sense of Tampa history, culture and cuisine. Gaspar's Grotto celebrates the Cigar Industry, the Gasparilla celebration and season and the Pirate roots of the legendary local pirate Jose Gaspar. It is a unique establishment operated by a retired Sea Captain and his wife, aptly named The Head Bar Wench. The Grotto is a combination of all the world's best drinking establishments that were visited by the Captain during his 25 year seagoing career. It is truly unique and wildly entertainment. They serve fabulous Cuban influenced food there, a well known shot of whisky and a beer for only $3, and often feature live music. There are expansive patios for outside enjoyment featuring fountains and greenery.Come today and meet the resident feline Tanker Ray.

Food and service was good. What rubbed me wrong is that they added a "service charge" of 18% to my check, for a party of 4. I usually tip at least 20%, however if you make it mandatory I will not bump it past 18% and won't be back again.

Great place to go for lunch. The service is very attentive without being obtrusive. And the food is amazing! Love the atmosphere too. Very cool!
