Forty Thieves

Bland and over priced, this is a sad representation of this genre. The hummus had almost no flavor other than chickpeas and was baby food smooth. Tahini, citrus, or sumac would all be welcome (and needed) additions. The shwarma bowl was similarly bland with grey meat piled onto said flavorless hummus. The pickles and fresh veg in the bowl were tasty though. The one bright spot of the meal was the fries with zatar seasoning. Well cooked, with good seasoning, these went well with cocktails from next door.

Very friendly staff, pleasant place to go for lunch on a Saturday. Chicken pita was good and flavorful. I like my hummus to have a bit more zing, but you go wrong with a side of beets, loved that!

My 25 year high school class reunion was held at Forty Thieves. I was on the planning committee and truthfully didn't know exactly what to expect. The food was delicious! So many different flavors bounced around my mouth at once. Very good. The staff was EXCELLENT. They attended to approximately 50 of my classmates. We had dinner and they even created a specialty drink specifically for my graduating class only! It was soooo good. We hired a DJ and they accommodated her as well... giving her the space she needed to set up quickly. Also they kept the kitchen open for those who paid but arrived late...like after 11pm. We really appreciated that. We had a wonderful time and I would definitely visit again.

Amazing...always! Have been 1/2 a dozen times now and keep forgetting to write a review, which is 5 stars everytime!

I had no idea this place existed, but I’m so glad I know about it now! Ethan the manager was wonderful, going out of his way to sure everything was made to my satisfaction.

Excellent fresh made Mediterranean food fast and can take it to go

Got chicken over hummus and a falafel sandwich and both were very good. Also got the fries and the beets which were excellent. Good middle eastern food is not too common in the city so this was quite satisfying. Only comments would be that the sandwiches could use a little more of that really good sauce, and would have liked tehini sauce or ketchup to go with the fries.

We had the falafel over hummus and the shawarma over hummus. Both very nice. The draft Guinness was pulled perfectly. Nice and creamy. The place is nice for gatherings... it has a couple of pool tables and a friendly vibe. I look forward to sitting outside when the weather warms up. And I hope they run out of 'sporks' soon and get some plain old forks...

We experienced 40 Theives tonight for the first time and it was DELISH!!!!! I ordered the grilled chicken over hummus, and it was so fresh and hearty at the same time! The environment was so inviting, homey with a modern twist...whether you are looking for a family night with the kids or a chill joint to have a few drinks and play some pool, this is definitely my new go to!

The food was great! Very small menu, but my falafel was seasoned well and the food was flavorful. More importantly, you can go into Holidays to order and eat in there. It is NOT just a walk up window on the street. Go in to Holidays, eat Forty Thieves, have a drink, lose a game of pool to your father and brother. Good time.

Great food in an awesome neighborhood bar. Everyone here is friendly and has a good time.

Awesome pitas

I loved it here! Everyone was very friendly and I enjoyed the open concept bar area and seating, and the entertainment center. We tried the falafel, beef shawarma, cauliflower soup, house fries, and beet salad. I loved the pickled radishes and pesto—so delicious! To drink I ordered the Kracken Cheerwine which I will be ordering again! Everything on the menu is made fresh in house, and the portions are large for how affordable everything is. Definitely one my favorite bars in OTR!
