Fonda San Miguel is recognized as one of the finest interior Mexican restaurants in the country, having garnered national and international attention for more than 35 years. Chef Miguel Ravago’s menu of classic regional Mexican cuisine prepared with authentic recipes and ingredients has made the menu offerings and the Sunday Hacienda Brunch Buffet legendary. Considered by many as “Austin’s most beautiful restaurant,” owner Tom Gilliland’s collection of museum-quality artwork, exotic plants, and international décor complete the exquisite dining experience. The restaurant pioneered “interior Mexican” cuisine in the U.S. being one of the first in the nation to introduce the full-flavored and more complex specialties from Mexico’s interior regions. Fonda San Miguel is a celebration of this distinctive cuisine, its colorful history, and the transforming influence it has had on Mexican restaurants across the country.

Their HH is bomb. The food is really priced at a point where you can practically try everything! Their service is on point and the food is really delicious. The location seems like it wouldn’t have enough parking but they do. I love the atmosphere here and would go back literally any time.

Excellent Interior Mexican offerings. I won't go into the food, because it was all excellent. That's all I need to say. The decor is a little gaudy, but it fits with the overall vibe of the location, with the exception of the staff who are anything but ostentatious! While the staff I interacted with were a tad unsure of the mezcal offerings in stock, they were upfront about whatever shortcomings they had, and we're happy to please. My own concern is the food was a _tad_ pricey, but not crippling so; an acceptable price for a special occasion or treat for yourself. Also, per all Mexican food, not the most photogenic!

Perfection every time I go. Have been alone. Have gone with friends. Food and drink are legit some of the best in Austin. The pickled veggies that come with the angels on horseback should be jarred and sold. The corn soup is cross your eyes good and my friend was drooling over the escabiche. So so happy to live near here!
