Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen

Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen is a tribute to Florence Powell, the Great Grandmother of Jonathan and Patrick Kish of 82 Queen Restaurant established in 1982. Florence Mosley was a born in 1908 in Charleston, SC. She worked at The American Tobacco Company’s Cigar Factory, where she met and married the Plant Manager Jesse Powell. They enjoyed their life in the Lowcountry, crabbing, fishing, visiting the Limehouse Farmers Market on Wapoo road and creating delicious home cooked southern meals. They passed their recipes down to their granddaughter Tyler Kish, wife to Steve Kish chef/owner of 82 Queen. Florence and Jesse’s favorite dishes to cook were Deviled Crabcakes, Seafood Gumbo and Johnny Cakes. For every holiday Florence would make her famous punch, we call Grannies Punch. 49 South Market Street is the home to Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen, a 300 year old address.
