Founded in 2019 by Chef JJ Johnson, FIELDTRIP is a community-based dining experience that celebrates culture through the shared experience of rice. For us, rice is a journey to new parts of the globe. Our mantra, "Rice is Culture", was born out of Chef JJ's realization that "Rice connects us" and can be found at the center of tables in almost every community. Our cuisine is influenced by global flavors and techniques used within various cultures. We use heirloom grains with each rice telling a unique story of how it arrived to this country and into your bowl. All rice is freshly milled, unbleached and not enriched. Using sustainable products is extremely important to us. Our rice bowls are paired with grandmother grains and vegetables along with sourced proteins to create a flavorful experience that not only taste good, but is good for you! This place has the feel of a fast casual spot you'd find in midtown but it's independent and Harlem owned. Their coconut shrimp bowls are incredibly good. Let's keep these guys open and support local biz!

The restaurant is super new and clean. Both counter and seating area is big. Very comfortable!Shrimp (GF)Sticky rice, toasted coconut, green curry sauce-fresh shrimp, and sticky rice was little sweet with coconut flavor. Very similar to Thai's mango sticky rice. But green curry version. And lots of vegetables as well!Salmon (GF) (DF)China black rice, pineapple edamame, piri piri sauce- salmon was very tender and soft. I was surprised they use black rice. It gave more texture. And lots of vegetables in the bowl as well! Feel healthy:)Yucca puff (GF) (V)- vegetarian version of shrimp cracker. It's my first time had yucca puff! I love it.Very crispy, with hint of sweet and salt. YummmmyCrab pockets (SFA) Garlic herbed cream cheese, sweet & sour sauce- crispy skin outside, and full of crab meat inside, with cream cheese. Dragonfruit lemonade- super refreshing!
