Today I was finishing my report on laptop at this place. I’ve been treated so bad just I have my laptop in front of me. The owner of the place run into my table and historically started shaking his hands near my face and showing how desperately they desire only customers with cash and no technologies;) they brought check without asking and the reputation of this place forever will be on the very low level.

Very unprofessional and rude service. We went there to celebrate a special occasion, and were looking forward to enjoying time with friends. The rude waitress forced us ALL to order an item (no splitting of any desserts allowed apparently) or else we wouldn’t be able to stay. None of us wanted to ruin the occasion so all reluctantly ordered under the scrutinizing glare of the waitress. We wanted to split the bill onto two cards, but that wasn’t allowed either. We worked things out with the cards only to have issues with tips come up. The waitress ran after us stating what we did was “illegal”, which basically meant we didn’t tip as much as she wanted us to. The cherry on top was that she would “return the tip, since you guys probably need it anyways”.. excuse me? Tipping is based on gratuity, it is not the law. We were very unhappy. Stay away.

Small, quiet, dim lit. Great atmosphere for small quiet get together or a date. They serve delicious cakes and pies, some of which are kosher. We had chocolate mousse cheesecake, chocolate banana mousse, lemonade. The server was very nice and helpful. We'll be coming back.

The owner was super rude to me and my classmate. He made the servers basically kick us out within 7 minutes of arriving. It's honestly amazing to me that they make any money at all treating people like that. All of their money has to come from people who order something thinking it'll be a nice coffee shop and then immediately leave cause they realise they're unwelcome. The servers were sweet and amazing and made a really good drink and even put my drink in a to go cup when I was no longer welcome. But that owner is really a horrible person and horrible business owner.

Per other 1-star reviews, this one aligns. What a grumpy and mean old man! And what an EMPTY cafe!I went there with a good friend; this was our second visit. Similar to the first visit, we were among maybe 3 other 2-seaters in the cafe. Unlike our first visit, which was quite wonderful, this time Grumpy waited on us. My first mistake was asking for an earl grey tea with simple syrup. He told me only plain tea was permitted 🧐🤣. Then, after we each ordered our beverages, as we did on our first visit, Grumps rudely made clear that we were NOT spending enough money. After sharing our frustration and surprise, we ultimately decided to leave (and post this review). The sad part is had GrumpyPants kindly explained that we needed to order a specific minimum, we would have happily done so. We were unaware of a minimum. Now it makes sense the surrounding eateries are at capacity, while The Edgar has maybe 3 patrons. First timers, I’d assume.

Ridiculous! I've never encountered such a rude owner. Some ancient Italian grandpa! Came over to my boyfriend and me after we had finished our meal and were sharing a kiss (nothing R-rated, just kisses) and rudely announced "this is a public place!"I'm sorry, this is a "public place" in the 21st century New York City, not the Republic of Gilead! So if you're gonna shame your customers for kissing, maybe open a cafe in some backward, repressive country where women wear sacks over their bodies.Disgusting! Food was mediocre. Waitress was very nice. The place was empty. Now I know why. You have no regulars. Who would want to come back to such lack of hospitality!!!

A wonderful place for a coffee, a drink, a snack or a dessert. I had a glass of wonderful wine and a dessert. The deserts are very fresh. The owner is the most charming Italian host.Thank you!

I and two other people came at 3pm on Sunday for a coffee chat. We each ordered a coffee. The waitress suggested we order cake, but we said maybe later. 10 minutes later she asked us again, again at 20 minutes, and after a half hour she said she needed that table for a reservation. We offered to move (there were at least 8 empty tables, at 3:30pm on a Sunday) but she said that wasn't good enough. So we paid up and left. I will never go back - it's a CAFE, but they won't allow you to order just a coffee? Very poor customer service.

A friend of mine and I went to Edgar's after seeing Tales of Hoffman at the Met. It was a hike from Lincoln Center to 91st and Amsterdam Avenue, but when we got there, it was worth every moment. There are so many things on the menu, it's difficult to choose, but I finally settled for an Edgar's Salad, which was a lot of fresh salad mixings with walnuts. It was so good, I couldn't finish it all. My friend had a different salad and we shared Brishetta as well. It's a good place to know about, that's for sure!

Great place and location overall. Very sweet and attentive service. Wish I could give it 5 stars but can't because the cook never learned how to make a proper omelette. He cooks them at way to high a temperature and that kills the eggs. They come out of the kitchen flat and lifeless. Alas. Rest of the place and the food is good.

I've been coming to Edgar's since it was on 84th st. My wife and enjoy the ambiance and low key atmosphere. The food's good, the desserts, very good. It has a European feeling. It's a thumbs up from us

AMAZING!!! The atmosphere the food and now the prices! Best in all of the upper west side!! I came in for a cup of cappuccino and then they suggested the special they were offering. I was amazed to find out I would get a pasta of my choice, a salad and a glass of wine for only 22 dollars! Is this even real in NYC??? This is a must, come on your own, come on a date but you must come! I’ve fallen madly in love with this gothic charm!

The owner was incredibly disrespectful. I ordered a sparkling water and was about to order food but he kicked me out after a bit because apparently what I ordered was not enough. The place was absolutely empty! So apart from rude it was completely irrational. Please go to another place where you are treated the way you should.
