East City Coffee Shop

Travelling for a few days out of Toronto we had the great fortune to find this place for our last breakfast. It was simply superb, and came with great friendly service and the best coffee I have ever had at a restaurant. Will detour out of our way to come back. Did I mention that the home fries and bacon are to die for?

Best breakfast anywhere. Super friendly staff.

I usually get the breakfast special which is amazingly delicious. Wait staff are kind and attentive. Go early on weekends or you’ll have difficulty getting g a booth. There is counter seating as well. Very old style cafe, reminds me of Toronto in the 80’s.

This is the best place in town to go for breakfast. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait but it's well worth it. They have the best breakfast potatoes that I have ever had.

Amazing breakfast. Fast friendly service. A small patio outside if you want to eat there. Cash only but excellent value. The owner is in the store! I have nothing against the big chains but it's so refreshing to find an independent place like this. Highly recommended.

A great breakfast experience. Wonderful staff and food, good variety on the menu. Only takeaway is depending on when you go in, you may spot a few outward racists. Saw a customer come in wearing a "scalp them all" hat, and as an Indigenous woman it doesn't really make you feel safe in the store when nothing is said about it. Still a wonderful place that I love to get breakfast at.

A classic place to go for breakfast in Peterborough. Great food, very hardworking and friendly staff, and the prices can't be beat. Feels like an old fashioned diner place.

The absolute best home fries in the city, the breakfast special is just that special. Lots of options for breakfast and lunch. But the hands down favourite is the 3 slices of quality bacon, eggs to order and the incredible home made hash browns, not deep fried but on the flat top they way they are made at home. Quality and great service always with a smile. Crowded little restaurant but the wait is short for a table. We were there for breakfast and had bacon & eggs. It was delicious! The home fries are excellent as is the bacon. Not sure what they do, but it was really good. Friendly and quick service. We will definitely be back.

This place has the best breakfast in Peterborough, hence the reason why it's been around for so long....
