Dunkin'

I stop here for the $2 ice latte special because its so convenient. I place my order via the online app, often on the subway. When I'm on the 5 train from Bklyn, I hit 'place this order' as the train enters the Fulton Street station. This Dunkin is a short walk from that stop. My order is waiting for me when I arrive with a smile, made as I specified through the options in the online app. There's no place to sit down and drink what I've ordered in this particular Dunkin but there is a place where I can transfer the contents of my order into a portable bottle so its easier to carry.

Sunday morning with an empty store and staff treat myself and another patron like we're invisible. One was cleaning and one was working on a mobile order. Neither made an attempt to acknowledge us or help us. After more than five minutes of being ignored I walked out and went to Mon Cher Market up the block. They had a long line of people yet I was greeted, helped, and paid in less than two minutes and the coffee wasn't burnt.

Most people do not go to the dirty and crowded Dunkin' Donuts of NYC because they want to. They go out of necessity: to either use the washroom, order a drink when thry have been walking in the heat, or get their "food" to eat because there are no other affordable options nearby.
