Doyle's Restaurant

About

One of Houston's longest family-owned restaurant. Started by Leo Doyle and sister Chloe as a delicatessen selling meats and cheese. Only after a customer asked for one rye roll, 1/4lb of sliced beef, and made a sandwich did the Doyles get the idea to start a restaurant. Doyle's first location was on Ella Blvd. at 43rd Street. Within two years it had outgrown the site and moved to its present location. In true Texas style the current building previously housed a bar and then an evangelical revival center. There was a horse farm down the street and cattle were grazing just four blocks away. As Houston changed Doyle's did also. We were one of the first restaurants to serve Pizza on a daily basis. For over sixty years Doyle's has maintained its tradition as a family restaurant. The most important part of Doyle's history is our loyal customer, many who have been with us since we began.
