Down South Barbecue

Best BBQ I’ve found around Jax Beach/Ponte Vedra. Absolutely loved everything! Tried the ribs, brisket, pork, turkey and several sides. Green beans were so delicious. Ribs were tender and sauce was on point. Will be back many times. Didn’t take pics of the food unfortunately, I dug in and couldn’t stop.

The food is good. Just good. Not great. The issue is the staff. Many times they will not answer the phone. When you come in to pickup the act like they are doing you a favor.

Really good food for a good price. Try the smoked Reuben on Thursdays. It's other-worldly!

Great dinner, awesome brisket

I decided to stop in after a day at the beach and take some food back to the hotel, these guys are awesome, was able to hold a conversation the whole time I was waiting. The food is delicious, coming from North Carolina, this is up there! Thanks guys, keep up the great work!

Came here the first time on a very restricted diet so had to watch my colleagues enjoy what appeared to be delicious barbecue. Everyone's plates were empty and cleaned off at the end of their meals. I went back a few weeks later after my diet came off restrictions and must have experienced what my colleagues had as my plate was spotless after my meal as well. Their homemade sauces are legit and out most barbecue joints to shame. Staff is incredibly laid back and attentive. This barbecue restaurant is second to none when visiting the Jacksonville area. Highly recommend their pulled pork and brisket.

I’m from GA and have really high standards when it comes to BBQ. I had the pulled pork sandwich on a sesame seed bun with cole slaw. It was delicious!! I also had the corn nuggets which were to die for!! I will definitely be making this trip more often.

The food is fantastic. The absolute best baby back ribs I've ever had. But what really makes the experience is having a conversation with Wally. This guy works his tail off and it shows in the quality of his food and the environment he presents. Seriously stop reading and go! You won't regret it.

They have sweet corn nuggets!! Great food! Willie was clearly shorthanded but ran the place like a boss!!

This tiny little place packs in the real down-home BBQ flavor! The staff are friendly and make you feel like you walked into a friend's kitchen. Just pull up a chair and they'll put some Smokey, flavorful juicy tender pulled pork or brisket, chicken or even a BBQ Rueben down with your choice of yummy side for you to be stuffed with! You have to try this place. You'll have to go back!

Thought I'd give this place a shot. It's a pretty small little place but the food was really good. I had the combo platter, brisket and pulled pork, with collared greens and mac-n-cheese. The meat was really moist and done well. The collard greens were great. The mac-n-cheese was just okay. I'd definitely go back for more.

Very good BBQ, go and you'll be glad you did.

Best reuben we have ever eaten. The owner Wally is a hoot.
