Food was decent but no worth the disrespect that the staff display for their black/brown customers. My waiter was horrible and I had a hard time understanding why he was dealing with customers. I would NOT recommend.

Delicious Mexican dishes from the selection of guacamole, tacos, and drinks. The Paloma Diabla was amazing with being the perfect combination of spicy and sweet! They make their tortillas and chips in house and they are incredibly flavorful! Be sure to make a reservation on open table, as it gets busy quickly and early in the evening!

Originally skeptical of being downstairs with a limited (drinks & tacos only) menu, but the service was great and super fast. And the tacos were fantastic. Went with a group and traded a few to get different flavors. Highly recommend the suadero (brisket) tacos. Funky decorations too.

The service was excellent - our waiter explained all the drinks and food choices, gave wonderful recommendations and was patient! We ordered the chicken tacos which were to die for! So flavourful, so juicy - couldn't have been better! Our margarita's we're great - we sat on the little patio and enjoyed all the views!

I was tired of fast food lunch so I decided to check this place out. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I ordered Chicken Flautas they were hot, pretty & delicious but small portion for the price. I would definitely recommend this for a nice break from the standard fast food lunch

Mercadito Mexican Restaurant in Chicago exceeded all expectations! Their shrimp tacos were simply unbelievable—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. But the excitement didn't stop there! The downstairs tequila bar added a whole new level of fun to the experience. The ambiance was vibrant, the drinks were top-notch, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. If you're in Chicago and craving authentic Mexican cuisine paired with a great time, Mercadito is the place to be.

Good Mexican food tacos and chile rellenos but too bloody expensive

The food is tasty. There is no question about it. The only minor gripes that I had with the restaurant are the amount of vegetarian options for entrees and the fact that you’re paying for the small portions of salsa. The prices can be a bit steep for what you get, but the food delivers in taste. The restaurant is in the heart of the loop and easy to get to, with a parking garage directly across the street. I would recommend this place, as long as you’re okay with going back to eat the same thing if you were a vegetarian.

Really good food and atmosphere in the restaurant, but I was surprised that the bathroom was so underwhelming relative to the decor in the dining area. For a place where we spent $80 per head for dinner and drinks, I would expect the bathroom to be a lot cleaner.

Small portions, very noisy, slow service. The only redeeming thing out of the whole experience was the Carne tacos, they were the only thing with flavor

Pollo Tacos One of the fancier Mexican restaurants in Chicago. And, right off the bat - it did not disappoint. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 For the main plate, we had the Pollo (chicken) tacos, more like 4 mini tacos - flavorful and had quite a few things going on at the same time. Decent amount of well-seasoned ultramoist grilled chicken along with cured onions, roasted cauliflower, corn, crispy sweet potato, and salsa. Not too spicy, a bit tangy, very delicious. All the other tacos on the menu are good too (get fish tacos). Simple Pollo tacos like these are generally healthy (lean protein from chicken and carbs from veggies and tortillas). . 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 An amazing place for both a date night and an evening with friends after work. Consider reserving a table if you plan on going there for dinner.

Yes it's pricey, but keep in mind that it's an upscale restaurant. I had the "pastor" tacos and OMG... Deliciousness! I'm Mexican and I love my authentic food and yes, I was like "eight dollars for TWO tacos!?" But let me tell you that I enjoyed every single bite of it! The meat seems to be of great quality and not the cheap kind with all the fat. The tacos were just perfection. As for the drinks, definitely strong, so that's always good! :) The fried plantains and flautas were also great. My friend had the mushroom tacos and she loved them as well. Picture doesn't do it justice.
