DiCarlo's Pizza Myrtle Beach

This is DiCarlos in Myrtle Beach. My wife and I are from the Ohio Valley and we both grew up eating DiCarlos pizza, so we know what to expect. This is Steubenville or Ohio Valley style pizza (yes, that’s a real thing - Google it) and some people in the Myrtle Beach area don’t understand it. The cheese and pepperoni are put on after the pizza comes out of the oven. I overheard one guy say he never had “raw pepperoni “ before. So, DiCarlos compromises at this location. They put some cheese on before they put it in the oven and add more to the cooked pizza if you want it Ohio Valley style. Not really authentic but the closest you can get to the real thing in the area.

I appreciate they have their own take on what a pizza should be. They have "cuts", small squares that start at about $1.75 each, which you can customize to each person, like a slice place. You can also order a pan for the whole family. The red sauce is very good, rich with flavor & plentifully spread. Finally, the oddest part is they sprinkle cheese at the end and let it melt as you eat it. It changes the taste and gives a tasty alternative to the typical way. It came quick from the oven and the place was clean & bright.
