Codfather Fish & Chips

We drove from Columbia to give it a try. Food was very good but the place is a dive. Needs a upgrade on building and furnishing! The lights even blew a fuse when I was in the bathroom. In the dark a few minutes. Met some interesting people.

A big fish!! Looks like a fish - fried perfectly. The fries were not too thick and not too thin. I loved this plaCe. Great vibe. And Baby G approved her pieces ✅

The CODfather Proper Fish & Chips is a great place for a very good lunch. The fish and chips are indeed proper and some of the best I have had. I really like the location and it is good to have a consistent and quality place to eat on this side of town. I have had a great experience every time that I have been here and have left with a smile after a great meal.

Do yourself a favor. Eat at The CODfather, Proper Fish & Chips! You will NOT be disappointed. I turned my wife on to their fish & chips, she's hooked. She's not a starter sauce type, but she LOVES theirs. Great fish 😋😋😋

I mean...how can you not try out a lunch spot who is named after a pun? Beautiful! I got the fish + chips (tasty) and a side of some English dish which was mashed peas. It was good. This place was super crowded but had a quaint and unique vibe. Will be coming back for sure!

If you want the best fish and chips in all of Charleston, this is the place to go. The folks working there are always wonderful, the service is fast, and I’ve never had a bad experience there. Also be sure to get some mushy peas and try the pies.

Fantastic food and a good atmosphere. Middle of the pack as far as prices are concerned but worth every penny. You will need to allot some time as well due to the wait. Each order is made to order however so the food is hot and fresh when it finally makes it way to you. Definitely try the HP sauce while you're there as well as the mushed peas.

I've heard so, SO many things about this joint. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype. First and foremost, the fish is phenomenal! That and the tartar sauce exceeded expectations. But the chips were soggy, and when that's half of your damn name, that's a big deal. I also tried the sausage roll, the bacon and chicken pie, the mushy peas, gravy, and the curry sauce. Literally the entire menu. I felt the curry sauce was fantastic, and I will be back for the fish and curry sauce, but I found the remainder to be bland. I suppose that's what British food is known for... alas. Again, I'll be back for what was good, but damn, get the fries right.

This is it.This is the fish and chips you've been looking for! You won't find the authentic, crispy, delicious fish anywhere on this side of the pond except here. If you know what a proper fish n chips is and have been searching for one, look no further. Can't give it enough praise.Big thumbs up.

Went here after leaving another establishment because of horrible customer service. The food AND the customer service were both excellent! The curry sauce is so good! And the fish was very tasty. Definitely recommend!

Food was delicious, served piping hot, and great atmosphere, legit English chippy feel. A bit pricey for what you get and of course it's very greasy, but it's supposed to be! This is a treat, not something to eat everyday, and it definitely hit the spot.

Great casual fish and chips restaurant, loved by locals and pretty unique among other lunch options in the area. The limited menu is nice and keeps things fast and simple; you’re there after all for fish and chips, right? Small bar adjacent to restaurant looks like a friendly place for a pint.

There was a wait, but it was worth it. Fish was really good. Fresh out of the fryer. The fries (chips) were pretty plain. More than enough for one person. Tarter sauce was also a treat. Everyone ran out with the large fish.

If you ever want to experience what and how proper fish & chips are made, the CODFather beats anything hands down in North America. This is not your “Irish pub we do good fish & chips” rubbish. I’m from a seaside town in North Wales, UK where this reminds me of home. The crispy batter, flakey white cod, genuine curry sauce and mushy peas with big chips (fries). Their pies are great as well.The place is the best and Adam the owner is a great guy who will give you a smile and have a chat in the best British way possible.
