Coda Kitchen and Bar

Coda is a trendy little spot in downtown Maplewood that has a brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 1130-3 pm. It's usually quiet and you don't need to worry about reservations. Service is slow and could be more attentive. The breakfast tacos are standouts. The order includes two flour-tortillas stuffed with scrambled eggs, ground chorizo, pico, and cheese. They make a decent Bellini and be advised, the Bloody Mary comes pre-mixed with horseradish in it.

One of THE coolest menus and dining experiences around the SOMA area. Drinks are great, food is out insanely fast, and once it is out - oh my goodness it’s delicious! Extremely healthy options, as well as fun and different options if you’d like to try something cool! Great place for families and just a hangout for friends!

Great place, super friendly and knowledgeable staff, and fantastic food. Also very accommodating and super kid friendly. Not a lot of restaurants pay this close attention to kids meals and our kids always love to eat here.

The food here is awesome and there is a nice variety. The staff is always friendly and personable. If you're roaming with a large group, you can reserve the back room.

The food was great!

Cozy restaurant and bar. On my last visit I ordered the grilled salmon, medium done. I would definitely order this meal again. Very limited option on the kids menu but the basics are available. Added bonus, kids can also select from a choice of carrots, broccoli, or beans (not sure if vegetable options are seasonal).

The servers here are always so kind and attentive! It gets very lively and busy on weekends but the way the place is set up it's a very cozy environment. Great spot to for drinks/dinner with a friend or a date!

Reliably delicious. Coda is the best spot in South Orange / Maplewood for a relaxing 5-star comfort-food meal. Expert, muscular cocktails. In 8 years, never had anything less than a great experience here. When it's been an hectic day and I need to relax and be taken good care of, Coda is where I want to be.

What's not to live about a friendly environment with good food.We stopped by here at 7pm on Saturday night, and although there wasn't a line, we put our names down for the wait list.5 minutes later we got the call that a table opened up (just two of us), what luck!They reduced the menu to just two full pages, but it still a large menu, and so far everything that we have had has been great. Tonight I had the Crab Cakes and my fiancee had the scallops, although we started with the Cobb salad and the cauliflower appetizers, which were also great.We've been here a number of times throughout the few years that we've lived in NJ and noticed that they just changed their lighting from a stark white LED type to a much warmer color which makes it feel a lot more cozy, even if the sound still reverberated off the walls. I'm hoping that they can address the noise with more of those acoustic panels to absorb at some point

Familiar as well as unusual options. All very fresh, perfectly cooked, and beautifully served. I recommend the roasted octopus ... it will put your tastebuds in full effect !

We were seated right away. Service was quick and food was decent. The grilled chicken was over cooked causing many of the pieces to be hard and dry.

Very nice meal here whilst visiting friends in the area. Food hot and tasty! Good selection of food and drinks! Friendly staff. Got to recommend!
