Pizza tastes amazing. The honey and salami pizza was great!

Visited Coalfire on a Chicago Pizza Tour. Pretty cool place, my kids loved watching the pizzas cook in the oven.

I LOVE pizza and consider myself a bit of an expert on the subject. The toppings on their pies are very high quality and tasty but the lack of flavor in the crust is very disappointing. Pizza is an entire package and when one element falls so short of expectations it drags the rest of the pie with it unfortunately. The crust is like eating saltines with no salt on them. I have zero idea what causes this because I routinely do 6 hour proof quick doughs for home pies when short on time that develop more flavor than this crust. Very strange but was really disappointing. Had a cocktail with lavender seeds sprinkled on the top, flavor was really nice but the seeds get stuck in the back of your throat :(You can tell the pizzas lean HEAVILY on their flavorful toppings to do most of the work but when the crust and sauce aren’t up to par it backfires.
