City Tap House Penn Quarter

This place is a lot of fun. I just experienced them playing a game at the bar where the winner took home a grill. Poor guy had to break it down into a few pieces to fit it in. I really wanted a burger after my long walk around the city. This place delivers the burger well made and fries with my mustard as requested. The burger was made medium rare just like how I like it. the bun isn't too saggy but can use some work. I wish there were more fries with the burger but it's better for my waist line. There are about 20 beer on the tap. I get to try four before I decided. I wish I can remember which one I had but that is okie. The advise is to try as many as you like before you settle. The bartender has a good sense of what you might like if you tell them a popular brand. The place is huge. Tons of space on a weekend afternoon and you might win a grill.

Loved it. Fun atmosphere, food was really good. My only complaint is that the Brussels were a bit too salty for my taste, but still very good. Service wasn't excellent, but it was happy hour and they were busy. Yes, it's pricey, but dude, it's DC. We had several beer flights, ahi tuna (better without the herbs as they overpowered it), street corn dip, pretzels and cheese, and 5 spice wings. Everyone left happy, other than my wallet.

The hostess was very nice, letting us know they were booked but had seating outside which we took. I think the waiter had made our experience very bland and short. He seemed like he was inconvenienced. After we sat down the area filled quickly. The kids food wasn't good. The bunny ears on the cheese pizza weren't cooked all the way and it was 10$. They have vegetarian options, The Althea was yummy but too big for one person to eat. The honeysuckle mule and veggie burger was really good. The bill came out quick when we asked for it. Didn't even stay for dessert.

While visiting DC I decided to dine here on New Year's day and compare my experience with the posted reviews. Greeted by the host, she was friendly and welcoming, and I was promptly seated by a high table bar area. My server Corinne was cordial, attentive, and professional. I started with the City Sling; great taste. I ordered Goat Cheese and Apple Ravioli but sadly they were out of it. So Lump Crab Cakes was my second choice; good presentation and great flavors throughout the entire dish. Crab Cakes tasted very fresh. For dessert chose the Chocolate Chip; it was served hot in a skillet, good choice. I would definitely return.

Really good place to go for lunch around the corner from the convention center. The Burger was great and you can get it with a side of salad Or French fries. They also have a lot of personal thin pizzas that looked really good at other people's tables. Service was efficient and fast. Would recommend making a reservation online.

What an amazing place! Met a friend there and decided to do the brunch that they offered on MLK day (Jan. 20) We asked for suggestions and our lovely waitress said the breakfast tacos, shrimp and grits and the steak Benedict. All of the food was delicious; except the steak was very tough. However, the highlight of the meal was the Shrimp and Grits! The grits were creamy, the shrimp cooked to perfection and the greens that accompanied the dish was like someones grandmother was in the kitchen cooking Sunday dinner. Come for the ambiance, eat the Shrimp and Grits and if you have a chance, meet Ron. The general/district manager who came over, chatted and even poured our cranberry mimosas. Such a delightful place and amazing food!

Great brunch/bar spot! Went for birthday brunch with my family and enjoyed the food. Every plate was fresh and filling. The avocado toast was delicious as were the corn and crab hushpuppies. The managers extended themselves to acknowledge my birthday with a tasty skillet cookie. Our waitress was Very attentive too. I'd like to go back for one of their special dinners.

If you’re looking for a place that actually cares to serve you, probably shouldn’t go here. Menus weren’t offered, and it wasn’t until I went to locate one myself that the waitress pulled the one I got out from in front of me (it was a breakfast menu) and handed me the dinner menu without saying a word. It took her another long while to return to ask if we would like anything. I asked one question about the menu and the waitress seemed bothered and ready to return to her phone that she was playing on at the bar. After our order was taken, my friend and I were pretty much ignored the rest of the time. I wouldn’t have bothered give a tip if it wasn’t for another gentleman apologizing for a delay in getting a check we asked for twice (not his fault). He got what we asked for quickly, so we could finally leave from the terrible 0 star experience. Do yourself a favor and walk the block to the Cuban restaurant where you will be welcomed and served immediately by a friendly staff.

Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere but very busy the time I went. I enjoyed the Aristocrat pizza. It’s savory and sweet. I would ask for less arugula if I eat here again. The corn & crab hush puppies were good. And I’ve had better carrot cake else where. It was too much whipped cream from a can on top of a thin slice of cake.

I did not want to write this review due to the good service and the friendly staff, but after what i saw I thought people should be aware about this. After a long trip from Texas to D,C we come across this place , everything seemed to be going well, the server was very attentive but as I am eating, my friend and I are disgusted to witness several mice running under the tables . I lost my appetite and could not finish my meal . I do not think of returning here as this makes me question food sanitation . I hope the manager takes action because this was not a pleasant experience for me or my family.
