Great selection of books, magazines and periodicals. Live entertainment. Cafe serves wide selection of coffees and beverages, sandwiches, pastries, etc., as well as THE most delicious chocolates in Chicagoland. A definite keeper!

City News Cafe is a star attraction of love and light in the amazing Six Corners neighborhood. From the great small music acts that perform there to the delicious coffee bar drinks and treats (don't forget their famous homemade chocolate truffles!), this could be my home away from home. You should go out of your way to visit the welcoming staff at this magazine/newspaper/bookstore/coffee shop combo!

Lovely store with a variety of books and objects, but pricier than it needs to be. Nice vibe, however.

This place is fascinating. I'm really not sure how it's still in business, but in a good way. They have rows and rows of physical copies of magazines, along with a selection of books about Chicago, including a large series of books with historical photos, each focusing on a neighborhood or group. The cafe has perfectly fine coffee at fairly good prices, and very nice truffles that are startlingly cheap to buy, and also just get handed to you for free with various things from the cafe. Sometimes they have speakers or music.

Really nice, local coffe shop with magazine's store. They 've been there for around 60 years. Really pleasant guy who works there

The newsstand part of the place has been a Six Corners fixture for decades, but they've recently added the Cafe, expanding the appeal. The coffee is designed for maximum choice, as there are multiple beans available in light, medium, an dark roast, and multiple options on how you want to have that made up ... although the default appears to be a top-of-the-counter drip brew, with a filter in a ceramic drip cone. Admittedly, this is not the fastest means of getting one's coffee, but it's high-touch and provides a bit of a show. There are tables inside and a section in front of the store as well.Frankly, there's not much else going in the neighborhood, so they're likely to have a pretty good business going there ... although I can easily imagine it getting to be cutthroat competition for seating!
