We loved everything we got here. I highly recommend the noodles with chicken and crispy noodles with meat sauce. They make the noodles right there in the store. The roast duck is also good. The service was fast. It is definitely a good place to go to get the Chinatown experience!

The mix of reviews makes it hard to know how the experience will be. I stopped in for a late lunch, got a table right away, had good service. The dumplings came out quickly, too quickly, just like some other reviews said. The dumplings were undercooked and not good at all. I also tried the noodle soup with shrimp and bbq pork, it was really good; noodles had the right texture and the broth was good. I dont think I'll be back honestly, the consistency of food quality is not good compared to others in the area.

Chinatown Express is one of my favorite restaurants. It is more like actual food in China: greens, handmade noodles and dumplings, nice rice, roasted meats, stews and soups... My favorites. Just had the roast duck. Also ordered dumplings and snow pea greens.

Shared two appetizers (pork guns and dumplings) and five appetizers (duck and fried noodles, szechuan scallops, eggplant and garlic sauce, spicy salty pork chop, and two noodle dishes). Everything was exceptional. Fresh dumplings are always great here, and the spicy salty pork combines great with the other dishes. Love it.

I ordered the roasted duck noodle soup, and OH MY GOODNESS I've never eaten something so delicious! If they had just served me the broth alone, I would have been completely satisfied. My boyfriend also said it was amazing and tried to steal it! I also liked that they gave us complementary hot tea, as it was raining and cold out so it really hit the spot.I don't live here, but every time I come back for the rest of my life I'll make sure to visit.

Love the food and the general experience, but there is one waitress, older heavy-built asian lady, that is a complete a$$. I don't generally complain but if you've had her wait your table, you know who I mean. Everyone else is super nice. I'll keep coming back but she does bring down the experience a few stars.

The delicious aromas coming from the restaurant lured us in. This place is always crowded and so the seating is a little compact. We had the roast duck which was very tasty and the dumplings were hot and fresh! It is pocket-friendly for students. The service is smooth despite the hustle and bustle. My only complaint is that the restrooms were not properly maintained.

There are few places, if any left, that roll their own noodles and make dumplings from scratch. In combination with the BBQ duck you will not find a better meal in Chinatown these days. Furthermore, its the most economical choice that at the same time prides itself on outstanding service. Definitely a must for any tourist and a repeat for most locals. Enjoy!

Food is always delicious here. Between the sesame chicken, fried rice and of course their specialty hand pulled noodles, you're gonna get your money's worth. Some dishes are meant for 1 person while mostly everything is for 2 people. Keep that in mind. I highly recommend trying the steamed pork buns as well as the dumplings. They serve up fresh tea with any visit which is a nice touch and they will help you with the menu if you do have any questions.

Wow the food here is phenomenal! I saw two people come and thank the owner for his consistently brilliant food at affordable prices. Truly worth a visit even if you have just one meal in DC. My barbecued roast pork and wonton soup was divine. Wish I could stay back just to try the other dishes..

Definitely recommended place to visit for the authentic experience. First there glass covered display where the they show how to make noodles just stretching the dough. The place tend get very busy. Service is good and friendly - one May have to share table during busy time. We tried dumping and we loved it. There are seating places across two floors.

We were walking by and noticed a woman rolling fresh xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and decided to walk in. The restaurant was packed but we were seated very quickly. My first time visiting here was back in 2002 and it was just a busy this time as back then. I last came here in 2014 and thought the food was terrible... surprised to see it so busy today. I decided to give it another shot as I had a fantastic time in ‘02. I’m not sure if they got their old owner back or if they just cleaned up their act but the food was pretty good this time! No real complaints I can make. Surrounding restaurants were slow... this one was bustling. If you’re in the area, don’t hesitate to stop in. I’ve been eating Chinese food all my life (being Chinese) and the food is pretty good. I’m not going to say it’s the best... but then most restaurants taste fairly similar anyway. Great way to end the day.

Questions & Answers

I didn't see fried duck, but I've had the roast duck and it is crispy on the outside and tender, juicy, and flavorful on the inside. IMHO it would be a waste of this duck to fry it.
