This is a classic French bistro. The food is elegant but simple. It is not a fancy restaurant but it is timeless. The atmosphere is like step back in time to a pre tech era. I had the trout special which was lovely. My husband hand the Coquille St Jaques it was wonderful. The highlight of the meal was the dessert souffle. We had the chocolate souffle. The hostess was a wonderful French lady. The prices for midtown are fair. The portions just right not too much but you leave satisfied. Overall a very pleasant experience pre show.

My favorite French Restaurant in the world! Family-owned restaurant which serve the highest quality authentic home-style French food. I love the Quails stuffed with grapes and wrapped in Bacon. Call ahead for a reservation and if you want Quail, give them a few weeks notice.

Exquisite. You MUST try the rabbit stew and the cassoulet. We can't wait to go back.

Reluctant to review this special place, 'cause it's hard enough to get a reservation anyhow. Romantic, old-world. One of the few remaining real places left in New York.

Their confit de canard is absolutely incredible. Would keep coming back for this dish alone.

Lovely place. Great old school French food like Duck A L'orange.

Quirky doesn't quite do this place justice, but exchange Quirky for Delicious and it is the perfect descriptor. With deco untouched since 1960, and likely the menu too, Chez Napoleon is a throw back to a certain period of French food when quantity was in, unfussy presentation essential and charming wait-staff assumed. Order anything in the appetizer column simply to get the vinaigrette, as it is the greatest thing this side of Paris. The variety of entrees we ordered showed the chef doesn't have a weakness and for desert, well...get the Cherries....as flambe! In conclusion, I have walked past this place for years and never gave it a thought. That has changed now and I urge you all to give it a go, as you won't be disappointed.

I came here for food choices difficult to find anywhere else. When found prepared in a way second to none. The staff is polite yet dignified. The music at the right volume making conversation easy. The decor is French and transports you to Paris . And the white tablecloths are the finishing touch.
