I went to Chez Hugo for the first time last night. The bartender suggested that I order the beet burger (BURGER DE BETTERAVES). I was a little skeptical but when I say that burger was PHENOMENAL that’s exactly what I mean!! It came with a little side salad that was good as well; I wanted to lick the plate...seriously. Lol. Also, the drink was good and the service was very nice and professional; I will be returning!

A welcome addition to the ever burgeoning downtown dining scene, Chez Hugo provides upscale french cuisine that is rivaled in Baltimore only by Petite Louis up in Roland Park. Excellent food with different options and shared portion sizes to meet the needs of your party. Great spot for a date night. Excellent service and atmosphere. A little expensive, but this place makes up for it in its charms.

First time at this restaurant. We went under the recommendation of a friend who's the chef of another restaurant in town. We were here at Thanksgiving, with a prix fixe menu, which could've been subpar. Well... Let me tell you... This was an amazing meal. The open kitchen with its incredible wood fired grill, the pumpkin soup, with bacon and slivers of pumpkin and crème fraiche on top was incredibly tasty, not sweet or nutmeggy as one might expect. The turkey was juicy and flavorful, with a mildly smoky taste, the sides were delicious (from the potato au gratin, slightly al-dente, to the best creamed spinach I've had, to the surprising sour dough stuffing and sweet potato duchesse), to the divine desserts (we tried both). It was just an amazing Thanksgiving meal. Will definitely be back with friends and family.

Max in the bar is a phenom. The food is a delight. Pastry devine. Charcuterie amazing!

The food was exquisite! The French onion soup was so delicious; not a bowl of grease like I’ve had before. I ordered the duck to share with my cousin but the entire family ended up trying it! I also love how you can watch the kitchen make your food as well. Chez Hugo definitely earned the 5 stars!

Great restaurant. Staff is fun and it's actually quite casual, but they are VERY serious about their food. I'd describe it as modern French cuisine.

Amazing food, cute space, amazing service. One of my favorites restaurants in Baltimore. It's not cheap, so keep it for a special occasion. It's really worth it.
Charm'tastic Mile
I stopped pass Chez Hugo after an event at another restaurant on The Charm'tastic Mile to see the new place. I was amazed by the European/French flair of Chez Hugo. I was greeted by a pleasant and professional host at the door. They have a nice mid size Bistro that is perfect for a downtown tourists, business person or date night. The Escargot was amazing cooked perfect. The offer a nice glass of Margaux that complemented the Escargot. I must return for the "Canard" Duck Breast & Duck Leg Confit. Bonjour!

One of the most wonderful dinners I’ve ever had. Friendly atmosphere, great food and drinks too.I lucked out, as Chez Hugo was right across from my hotel. Ashley was my waitress and we had a great conversation. She is one amazing gardener!I had escargot, which rocked and combined with the charcuterie board, I left stuffed, unable to even think about desert.I visit Baltimore annually for a trade show and can’t wait to visit this special place again.

It was an absolute pleasure to experience the atmosphere of the French bistrot in downtown Baltimore. I am French and being there reminded me of being home. With this restaurant the owner introduces a concept foreign to the USA, but very familiar to French people “le bistrot du coinâ€. An unpretentious place where you can eat simple and very French food at a reasonable price. A place that everyone can enjoy. I was especially impressed that the chef had the guts to put a merguez sandwich on his menu. And, as it turns out, it was the best merguez I have had since 1984, the year I left France!

Wow! Everything was amazing. The steak melted in your mouth and the peppercorn sauce was super flavorful. The duck pastry was wonderful. Appetizers, desserts and cocktails were also wonderful. The wine suggestion was spot on and within our price range. The service was exceptional and everyone seemed to really enjoy being there. The atmosphere was beautiful. Great date night!

From start to finish our meal was spectacular. I highly recommend the escargot and the rabbit dish. It feels like the menu changes often so try to get there before the rabbit is gone!
