Overall, I like the chart house. The food is pretty consistent, and the views are wonderful. I had a rough start at this location. Granted I showed up about 45 min before closing, but waiting 7 min at the front desk for anyone to acknowledge me. Then the manager on duty asked if I needed help, and asked if I had reservations. Granted, the restaurant was empty... So why would I even need reservations. The manager went off to "find a table" and then two hosts came up to the front desk chatting away. They also asked if I needed help or had reservations. At this point, understanding they wanted to validate their system, it still begin to feel like they were all being bothered by me coming to the restaurant so late. Once they sat me at a table, the service was fine, the food was good, and I ate without any other issues. Again, the Chart House is good, just be sure to have reservations ;)

I enjoyed my visit to this exquisite gem right on the waterside! Beautiful views. Impeccable staff and presentation. Diverse and delicious menu! The bar makes excellent cocktails as well! Thank you Chart House for an exquisite experience.

Very nice seafood, but upper end prices. The lobster was fantastic.

We really enjoyed our night at the chart house! We were recommended to eat here by a local and we were not disappointed at all. The food is a little more expensive then my wife and I usually splurge for but the views : dolphins seals and sea otters playing out the window next to you were amazing. The food was beautiful as well. We said it was my mother's birthday and they treated her to a very simple elegant and not awkward experience that she loved. The only negative is at the end of this almost magical evening the waiter tried to get us to buy some type of dining package for other restaurants. This made the end of the meal a little bit awkward and we lost some respect for our server server we had loved up into that point.

Romantic place to dine in and unwind (with fab wine) before heading back to SF City. We called in to make reservation as we parked on the street. We happily sat on the bar to have (delish and a real deal!) appetizer during happy hour before we got our table by the window. Great surf and steak food selection (comparable to McCormick Kuletos in Fisherman’s Wharf) plus unforgettable sea otters and stunning sunset!

A bit pricey but the food, service and views made it all worth it. Excellent salad bar and the fruit was super fresh. I'd def return again

Great food, wonderful waiters/waitresses and a view to die for. Average food cost seems to be about $35 to $50 a head - which is not unreasonable considering. Landry's establishment, so get your Landry's points.

Very unhappy. Saturday night, Monterey hotels were booked, made 8pm reservation, waited half hour to be seated. Noticed at least 10 empty tables. Listening to pop music, ( I enjoy the Beatles etc.) And looking at sports while in a fine dining atmosphere was not appropriate. The food was not what we experienced at other chart houses. May never eat at a chart house again.

The view is magnificent. The food was tasty. A bit overpriced. You are charged for everything you eat there. A classy place. Good for a special occasion or date, if you have the coin. I post the warning notice displayed in the restaurant because I never saw anything like that displayed in a restaurant before.

I didn't like the fact that I had to wait in the lobby when it wasn't busy and no host available. Someone finally noticed us and we got seated. We had an ocean view table although it was night time and we couldn't enjoy the nice view. The salmon that I ordered was good. This was the only restaurant that was open past 9pm so it would be a good spot if there's nothing else opened.

This place is simply superb. Loved their service and food. They have a great view of the ocean. Perfect for a fine dine in experience. I recommend you to check out this place if you ever pass by Monterey.

I only come here for happy hour so my experience with the main menu is nonexistent. Happy hour fare is excellent, both in quality and in price. The roast beef sliders are worth going for alone and the beer pairs well with all the options. Fish tacos, fried kimchi, calamari, fries are all great. Could use some more options, but really overall I'm quite happy.

Great atmosphere, great food and great staff. The best food I have had in years, good menu options

Questions & Answers

Happy hour has lettuce wraps and a couple other items. It's a steak house so there are many options. Also a large salad bar.

The effort you took and ask it within this Q&A he could have just got the answer off the site or Yelp

If you meant a dress code, no there is no dress code.

You should contact the restaurant directly regarding your reservation for a prompt response. In my opinion, it may be a problem since it's Friday night and it may be busy. Better to talk to them ASAP than to wait at the restaurant for a bigger table. Cheers!

Its soooooooo awesome at the Chart House!!!

Amazing, fresh selection. Varied items, from veggies to seafood.
