Captain Bill's Waterfront Restaurants

Clam chowder and bread were very good. My crab cakes were disappointing. Kids fish fry was good as were his fries. Rather pricey for what you get, but the servers were friendly and food was decent.

Food was great. Sat in the fire place room, nothing better than a fire on a cold night. Loved the coconut shrimp, was surprised at the size of the 4 shrimp. Clam chowder was great. I had the walleye and the wife had the stuff tilapia. Both were filling and really good. Definitely will be going to captain Bill's again.

I came here for the Alaskan long crab. Half a pound amounted to one leg without the claw. While it didn't look like much, I was struggling to finish the last few bites. Preparation was excellent. The bread and flavored butters were also appreciated. The garlic mashed potatoes were sufficient, but I've had much better almost anywhere. The atmosphere of the restaurant needs improvement.

two days ago was our first time we went to this magnificent restaurant. But It is no doubt not the last. We had a good time with the efficient service, with the first-rate food and booze and with the friendly price. We will absolutely visit there again.

Decided we wanted a fish fry, and a friend from work recommend Captain Bill's. When you first walk in, it's kinda cozy. The waitress was friendly and very helpful. That being said , the fish fry was disappointing. Small serving, and not a lot of flavor. I won't go for another fish fry, but will give them another shot, just pick another item for the menu.

It's expensive but the food was great.

Nice atmosphere. Good food. Was bummed we couldn't use our drink book during Restaurant Week.

I've dined several times at Capt Bill's over the years and have never had a bad experience.....the service and food has been spot-on every time. Best clam chowder and coconut shrimp you will ever have. Even the baked potatoes and steamed veggies are great!

Always a great choice. We often go to Captain Bill's to celebrate a birthday and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Best clam chowder I've ever had. Maybe also best crab cakes I've ever had. While Madison isn't a seafood destination, if you're a seafood lover like me, Captain Bill's will please your cravings...and give you a fabulous lake view to boot.

Pretty much exactly what you would expect from a generic seafood restaurant. Steak, lobster, fried shrimp, fish. The clam chowder was good. The food was above average. The staff seemed frazzled. We had a reservation, but were told we would have to wait with the rest of the people who just showed up. They said the wait would be 45 minutes after our reservation time. The hostess told us that she want allowed to give estimated wait times, only the manager could do that. Thankfully, their estimate was way longer than reality. It was fine, but I don't need to go back.

Nice atmosphere, good food. Outside of building looked like it needs some love. Clean and enjoyable. I gave 4 and not 5 stars due to the price of the food and portion size. I think for $200.00 there should had been a little more ...
