Cam Huong

Sometimes we need a cake in the office. I do a quick drop by on my way in and pick up the cake a little before lunch. They always complain about same day order but this gets me a fresh cake. Three fresh breads are used by the local restaurants that make Vietnamese sandwiches.

This bakery is from the same people down the block Cam Huong Cafe. They bake their own baguette use for in-house banh mi as well as for their wholesale clients. Place is pretty much dated as CCTV is b&w in color with outdated pixels images. They stock other snacks and bakery items, but their main business is baguette rolls and bread. Morning danish like bearclaw or croissant are frozen store bought. A safe bet is to get banh mi or if you like just go down the street to their cafe.

The veggie sandwich was a little dry

The banh mi was ok. It needed jalapenos and more cilantro. They were skimpy on the veggies that could have elevated this sandwich. Found it on Eater and those guys need to actually try the places before recommending them.

The BBQ chicken banh mi was probably one of the best ones I've had in Oakland! The meat was fresh and plentiful (they cut up the ones they sell rather than have already chopped meat prepared) and the bread was a crispy on the outside, yet soft and chewy on the inside. Abundant toppings and everything went PERFECTLY together. YUMMMM. And $3!Be careful though, I had a few bites of the noodles as well and got hit hard with the MSG.But super cheap and a decent selection of other foods!
