Cafe Grumpy

I always stop here on my way to the Hester Street Fair to get a coffee. This is genuine hipster coffee in the lower LES - expect skinny jeans and Warby Parker glasses - and it always smells great when you step inside. They also use Square here so you can pay through your phone if you want.

Coffee is great, but this is a coffee stand, not a coffee shop. No place to sit, just grab and go. It shouldn't be named "Cafe" but Stand Grumpy. Despite the excellent coffee, I'm grumpy.

One of the best espresso experiences in NYC. Smooth, nutty, sweet espresso, or perfectly foamed latte - this is the no nonsense coffee drinkers coffee drinking spot. Hard to beat.Minimal seating, so have your espresso standing or your larger cups to go.

One of the best coffee shops in the city. Fresh-roasted beans make the most flavorful coffee. This particular location is tiny and there isn't much space to sit. However, there's a park across the street.
