As locations go, Europa’s is tough to beat. The downtown setting is right across from Center City Park and there is plenty of parking nearby. This proximity to the heart of the city goes a long way toward explaining why Europa draws the crowds that it does. Were it located elsewhere, it would probably be struggling to stay afloat. To its credit, Europa is a good-looking space. The tile-and-wood interior is classy and evokes Old Europe quite nicely. It is not particularly roomy though, and when the restaurant fills up, the acoustics are horrible. The patio is similarly deceptive. You get a great view of the city from outside, but be prepared to pay for it by enduring head-splitting boisterousness. Europa’s European-influenced menu offers both classics and a few intriguing sounding dishes, but the execution is uneven. A steak au poivre was tasty if a bit understated, but my companion reported her steak (with a flavorful red wine sauce) was undercooked. Both came with frites that were indistinguishable from fast food fries. Fortunately, an appetizer order of grilled chorizo fared better: the bread was fresh and hot, and the dipping sauces (one a pesto, the other a roasted red pepper) were fantastic. Neither Europa’s service nor pricing were exceptional, nor were they exceptionally lacking. The sub-$15 steak dishes seem like a good deal until the disappointment of the fries sinks in; sandwich and salad pricing (in the $6 to $10 range) was fair. Our server was courteous enough and relatively fast, but he started to appear slightly harried as Europa filled up. If you keep your expectations in check and arrive early enough, Europa has enough charm and enough options to make for an enjoyable meal. However, the same can be found elsewhere without risking a headache.

You can't beat a wine Wednesday! One of my favorite downtown spots. Definitely lives up to it's namesake and has a Europe feel to it.

My two business associates and I went there today at 1:00 p.m. for lunch but we were very disappointed with the service we received. After we got our drinks, the waiter asked us if we were ready to order. We said yes and I proceeded to tell him my order. He says "just a minute, I forgot my pen". When he returns we placed our orders. After waiting more than 30 minutes for our food we asked another waiter to see what was happening. He called our waiter and he returns a couple of minutes later saying that he had forgotten to put the order in the kitchen and asked us if we wanted to wait. We said NO and left the restaurant.

Friendly staff, good food, reasonable prices (steak and fries for $15). Better deal if you take advantage of the free street parking after 6pm Mon-Fri.

Came here for Sunday brunch and the food was amazing and the atmosphere outside with the fountain and live music was lovely. Only reason not a 5 star was the service. Horrible. Only time someone came to the table was to take our orders and deliver our food. No one was refilling drinks and we eventually flagged someone down just to get one refill, which we ran out of again before leaving. Would potentially try it again sitting inside but very dissappointed that we paid that much for such poor service.

Treated like a second class human in here. Actually not like a human at all. The guy never came over to take order give menus or ask about drinks. He really didn't want us in there. He would look us dead in the eye and keep on doing whatever. The place was practically dead other the 4 other people. After no attention in 15- 20mins we got up to leave and I heard him say "Thank God!" I was so mad but I wasn't Goin to let him ruine my date night. So we went some where els didn't ever go back, and don't plan to. Not sure if he still work there or not. I should of called the manager the next day but I kinda figured that if he was so comfortable with doing what he did, and saying what he said, then he probably won't get held accountable. Oh well just lost out on some customers and possible good tips. Was really looking for a nice quite eatery and bar to come to downtown without the crowd. Oh well.

Good food, service was questionable but there was a large event downtown. Will definitely give it a go again.
