Met a friend there for lunch. I had not heard of it before. They have a great view of the Potomac, and the staff was very friendly. I had the Reuben and tomato soup. Both were excellent. The service was a little slow, but we still got out in time.

I work in this complex, and while it’s handy to have a nicer restaurant here, the service is wildly inconsistent. The first few times I went after it opened I chalked it up to growing pains. The food is pretty good and ambience view and decor are nice, but last time I was here the food was delivered then no attention until “are you ready for your check?” Had to ask multiple times for tea, then I was brought sweet tea. I will continue to come here because it is so handy for business lunches, but it’s been around too long for these glitches to keep happening.

It is a little hard to get to and parking is limited, but the fourth floor patio is huge and thre service is casual. Good playlist, wide selection, and their Wednesday and Thursday wine specials are very generous for the area.

Excellent atmosphere both inside and out. Potomac River views from the amazingly large patio. Craft cocktails well made and flavorful. Great specials. One if the rare places to enjoy true champagne. Veuve by the glass or bottle. Brilliant.

Honestly, Cafe 44 earns 3 stars for their food, but 5 stars for the staff & the incredible location. I discovered their existence during Alexandria's Restaurant Week, hadn't heard of them prior. They are tucked away in an office building in North Old Town off the beaten path astride the river & Mount Vernon Trail, so Cafe 44 is easy to miss. What you don't want to miss is the spectacular, unobstructed view of the Potomac River & Maryland/DC shoreline. The food is so-so, but it is priced accordingly. They have a 4 - 7 PM happy hour which I plan to enjoy once the weather warms up a bit. I'm certain once the word gets out about Cafe 44's location & ambiance, it is going to become a regular stop on the Old Town entertainment circuit.

This place has phenomenal food and drinks. It always impresses me how very inventive and delicious everything I have had there is. Highly recommended for brunch or really any time of the day. The view is spectacular and I could just sit there all day sipping on cool cocktails looking over the water.

What a great cafe!! Let me start by saying that I don't consider this Old Town Alexandria. It is nearly a mile from King Street. It is in a big office building. As long as you remember that you need to take the elevator to the 4th floor you will find it. AND it is worth it to go!!! As everyone else has said the view of the Potomac River is just lovely. The decor is beautiful and the food was good. We only went for breakfast but we will be back!!

Made it here during restaurant week for their second ever brunch. Nice atmosphere, friendly server and host, and one of the best views of the Potomac you'll find. Food was all around pretty great: good combinations with pretty plating and cooked well. There are a few interesting signature cocktails. I tried one with 'smoked glass' and while I don't think it really imparted a smoked flavor, the smell was fantastic, it was creative, and otherwise tasted delicious. One potential negative was the time a three-course brunch took. I think this was partly by design and partly due to the staff working out the kinks. We were happy to hang out, take in the view, and chat. But if you're looking for a quick bite, maybe consider someplace else. Thanks Cafe 44 for a nice meal. Looking forward to trying lunch.
