Very confusing experience. Food items weren't labeled, and a lot of the dishes were being stored in large trays without proper temperature control. Hopefully we don't get food poisoning from the few Luke warm bites we ate before throwing the meal in the trash.

Food is delicious, specially karekare. Owner was very gracious to take pictures of us. We mentioned one of us is from Pennsylvania and he gave us a treat, cupcakes that are real good. We had a wonderful experience eating there.

The service is really bad. They’re closed at random times, they hardly ever have what you order, and sometimes their number doesn’t even work. They either need a customer service class or hire nicer workers.

We thought this was a buffet. It's not. We are unfamiliar with Philippine food and thought a buffet would be perfect—a taste of this and that to see how we liked it. The staff was unhelpful but another customer explained how it works. The food is on display and you have a choice of one or two items plus rice. None of the choices are labeled, so you can point at what you want and take your chances. The place was busy. The staff looked unfriendly. We had no idea what to order. We left.

My fiancé and went to Cabalen for the first time this morning. The woman working behind the counter was so great! She walked us through each dish so we could choose something we'd like. We each chose multiple items to try. Everything was very different in flavor and very good. They serve a garlic rice that accompanies the dishes that is delish.We love trying new places and new food. This is a place we will happily return to!
