I've been a fan of BSK and chef Tanya Holland since they were in West Oakland and was not disappointed! The Fried Chicken and Waffles are as delicious as ever and they still serve long time classics like the Hush Puppies, biscuits, collard greens... You won't regret visiting!

This is reviewing the Oakland downtown location, which is not searchable here on TripAdvisor. The new location is bright and roomy. There was a wait at 10am in the morning so please plan accordingly. By the time we left, they were quoting people over 1 hour! The shrimp and grits is fantastic here! The signature fried chicken and waffles were a little disappointing this time. The chicken pieces were over done and on the dryer side, still enjoyable with the apple syrup. Service is efficient and friendly. We would recommend this place for brunch. Great for families too!

Customer service was great. I ordered the fried chicken and waffle. The fried chicken was precooked and had too much sage or basil seasoning. I could be incorrect about the seasoning but that's what I tasted. When I say the chicken was precooked. I mean it was not dropped in a fryer and cooked to order. As I was leaving I also saw the warmer that the chicken was placed in once cooked. The waffle was crispy instead of light and fluffy. I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant but didn't. I hope to try it again because of the positive reviews.

If you can avoid it, dont leave luggage or items of any worth visible in a vehicle. But if you dont have a choice, try to hide it as best you can. Parking garages might be a better choice then on the street. And if have to park on the street just try parking in a high traffic area so if something suspicious happens other people presence might make it not so comfortable an environment to break in. Its a risk. But near the ferry building i usually see a lot of cops so your choose in the end.

Park on Soma, take a nice walk. No parking there. There's paid parking lots up the street, too.

I used to work in the building not long ago and can confirm there is no luggage storage in the building.

Depends on what you want to buy. If you just need a memory card or common charging cable you can go to Walgreens which is nearby.
