Bondi Sushi
About
- 4.3 ( 4 reviews)
We are Bondi, a family of sushi lovers and makers. To love food is to love every moment that surrounds it. Some of our best memories are shaking the salt out of our hair and sitting down for a bite on the many places that line Bondi Beach — a crescent of sand off Sydney’s east shore. We’ve tried to capture that feeling — warm sunshine, calmness, simplicity — in our first New York store. Bondi serves conscientious fish, cut clean and served fresh. It’s good food made with good vibes and heaps of love.

I walked in by chance and was pleasantly surprised. The seaweed was warmed and crunchy, rolls were served at the right time, and the bar attendant went extra step to make a good impression. Rolls are generous, fish is fresh. I’d prefer much thinner sliced ginger. I have not tried other items. Will consider stopping by again.

NYC is finally starting to do sushi right. Clean environment with fresh fish and friendly staff. Food was delicious and an excellent value. Please open one in Hell’s Kitchen! Reminds me of the sushi scene in LA.

Just ok in my opinion- the concept is very cute (though wasteful) with the sushi served in disposable paper boxes. The issue is nothing tasted very fresh even though it was made on site. The rice seemed dry, as if it’d been sitting out too long. The fish also tasted like it had been sitting out, which is quite likely given the assembly line aspect of how they make it (pulling out the fish from big prepared platters). The store isn’t too busy which is nice, and it’s casual given it’s a take and go rather than a sit down. I also went on a Friday night and it wasn’t busy at all, which for NY is good for if you can’t find another place to go.
