When four brothers grew up in the hotel and restaurant business in Atlantic City, each of them learned a different specialty from the business. Teplitzky’s Hotel and restaurant was a favorite amongst tourist in the fifties, sixties and seventies and the boys all enjoyed their summers at the resort working and enjoying the beaches. However, they had one thing in common, “we knew how to eat” says chef Terry Teplitzky. “When we would all get together, no matter what the occasion was, enjoying subs was at the center of the table,” says JT, the youngest of the brothers. Such was often the case when the brothers would return to Atlantic City to visit. In 2014 when their mother and elder brother passed away within a few months of each other, Terry, Howard and JT knew they had to make progress on their life long dream of opening their own sub shop. Terry has called Monterey his home for 35 years and felt it was the perfect place to bring a piece of the east coast. In the years since leaving AC, Terry became a well-known chef as owner of Michael’s Catering and Wild Thyme Delicatessen. Although the other brothers pursued careers in the casino industry in Connecticut and California, they never forgot the cuisine that they grew up with. The three remaining brothers started Boardwalk Subs from an idea that had been spoken about for years before their brother Victor passed away. They decided at his funeral that it was time to make their dream a reality. Bringing their passion for and the memories of the east coast, the restaurant is an ode to their colorful family history. Throughout the sub shop, you’ll notice icons from Atlantic City, like the diving horse mural representing the popular attraction at the Steel Pier, James Saltwater Taffy that the Teplitzky boys grew up on and various antique photographs commemorating the times when Atlantic City was flourishing. Ask anyone on the east coast and they’ll tell you the key to a good sub is “in the bread.” The brothers have spent the last few months working with a local bread company to come up with the perfect recipe comparable to the east coast roll. Each sub is made with the freshest, local ingredients and prepared right in front of you. We’ll leave it up to your taste buds to test it out! Terry, Howard and JT couldn’t be more excited to share their passion for food, their family history and the city that saw them grow with you at Boardwalk Subs.

Nice place. Friendly customer service, a lot to offer in selection of sandwiches, beers, etc. Casual yet upscale place. Parking is a bit tight but when you offer sandwiches this good, it’s going to be.
