An excellent meal! Reservations are definitely recommended. This restaurant has a small town Italian family feel in the big city. Our meals were amazing, all of the pasta is homemade. Despite the smaller size of the restaurant, we were able to hold a conversation easily on a busy night. Staff was friendly, helpful and responsive.

I never finish a full plate of pasta but I did here. The food is really good. They dim lights in the evening so environment and ambiance lends itself perfectly for any setting from a cozy date, business meeting or family gathering. Drinks are nice and no complains about the service either. Experience was overall superb.

Had a awesome experience in here with my daughter. The food came quick and the customer service is just excellent. Prices are fair.

I went here recently and really enjoyed their food and the environment was great! They accommodated a large group of ours and the service was seamless!

We love this place! Second time we visited in the past year, and we will definitely come back. The service is great, the food is very tasty (the raviolis are to die for!), and the atmosphere is very relaxing. All in all, our second experience was as good as the first time, and we can highly recommend the food here.

Italian fare that's reasonable and well prepared. Their grilled Calamari and whole Bronzino are favorites.

Our first fabulous dinner in New York City! The appetizer, main course, and desserts were all amazing! I highly recommend making Basso56 a part of your NYC experience!

Absolutely delicious very friendly and helpful staff. Perfectly paced service. We created our own tour of Italy with three amazing dishes and feel with all of the choices we could do the same several more times. Authentic Italian food with a great atmosphere.

How was it? Great... Our to go place for good pasta, good grilled seafood, excellent and attentive service and owner. Also, probably the best quality/price relationship for lunch around Broadway/Central Park South. In Seattle the same would likely cost 80% more, and I doubt that the quality would be the same. Been to Basso56 several times. I am originally Italian and am now living on the West Coast; this is one of the two places I crave go go when I visit New York (the other being a pizzeria- unfortunately these guys don't make pizza).You around and reading reviews to decide where to go? Another great meal at this amazing place- Basso 56. On tap today we decided to go off book , no lunch prix for $24.95 which has plenty of awesome choices....today pic 1. was Grilled Calamari over arugula with a tasty vinaigrette for an appetizer. The entree special I could not pass up, Osso Busso, my dad taught me well never pass up the opportunity to try Osso Bucco.... 2 pic Osso Bucco over saffron rice drizzled with truffle oil....it came out piping hot and was so tender to bite into, it melted in your mouth. A beautiful piece , the shank had plenty of meat on it, cooked perfectly and saffron rice added to complete this amazing meal. The best part was the succulent bone marrow that had been marinating in the middle of this shank just waiting to be eaten.....so delicious..oh my....of course to end this lunch extravaganza of tastes and to cleanse the palate went with their gelato and perfect cappuccino.... this place never disappoints....

Excellent service, food, and venue! Great location, too. Perfect for large family dinners or small intimate meals! Definitely going back.
