This is a cute quaint bakery and cafe. Amazing hot chocolate made with real chocolate right before you. The vegan carrot cake is the best carrot cake I have ever had. They have many baked items and gift items. This is a charming place to hang with friends.

Been coming to Avalon since it's inception! On my many pedestrian haunts through the ever expanding Midtown, if found this little gem. I was once actually courted for a management position, but I'm the 'morning' person... I love Avalon, how it's evolved during the years, the product is consistent. I enjoy the eclectic mix of patrons. The counter people know the regulars, it's the meet-up spot and it's like your kitchen, but you didn't make anything. They used to serve this wonderful Ethiopian tea...but, they've stopped (wonder why...). Seating is a challenge on busy Saturday afternoons. They always have the bread that I like, even if they've been slammed (win-win). music is always bumping, and you can sit and snap, or bob your head. Parking is quite a challenge, as you will circle the block trying to get a space....ugh

Carrot cake and trail mix cookie were amazing especially if you like raisins. Did not like the peanut butter cookie, it was too dry for me. Monkey bread didn't have enough flavor, tasted mostly like plain bread.

Avalon Bakery has the most wonderful products, and it is staffed by great people. When you take your first bite of anything they make, you immediately recognize that it is concocted of quality ingredients. That is why some of the best local restaurants use their products.

Love the vibe of this place. Coffee and food have exceeded expectations. Had a roast turkey sandwich w pimento cheese that was delicious. I could just sit here and enjoy the smell of everything. Plan to try a pastry or cookie.

They have a good variety of breads but no one signature that wowed me. Hot breakfast sandwiches look good. Coffe station did not entice me to partake. Good for a stop in though. Easy to find. Good parking.

One of the most amazing little spots in Midtown Detroit! Their coffee is fresh and the food is great! They even had vegan options to cater to my dairy allergy! Highly recommend this place...

If you’re looking for a great cup of local blend, you’ve found it. Great artisan breads and pastries. My personal favorite, Willis Blend coffee.
