This place is one of the most consistently delicious places I visit. I usually stop in about once a month, and the food is always so good, regardless of what dish I get. I have tried all of their combination platters, which has allowed me to taste most of the dishes they offer. The ambiance is okay, not really romantic, but still nice for a date or family/friends get together. They can accommodate large groups. They do get very packed on the weekends. They also have a separate bar upstairs that has a bit of a speak easy vibe.

The food is great and spicy. They are also open late and have free WiFi. Some of the staff are amazing, however some may have trouble speaking fluent English. My top Ethiopian place to go to.

Placed an order with uber Eats. Order said it would be 30 minutes. 1 1/2 later out order arrived with half of the meal missing. Called and spoke with the restaurant and they told me I could order another car to pick up the food. Offered no solution, blamed it on uber. Super disappointing. Plus the food was cold.

I decided to have lunch here one Sunday and ordered the meat combo which came with lamb, chicken and beef along with three vegetable sides for around $13. The meal came over a bed of injera (extra injera provided). All in all, I thought that the meal was delicious and service excellent.

The bar is split into three completely different style bars. When you walk in it looks like a normal bar with some tables on the side and a bar on the other this is holds a large amount of people comfortably. Then the next one you walk into is the well lit dinning room which is the largest room but strictly for eating, then you walk up the steps to the cash only 1920's style speak easy with a huge canned beer selection and a bartender that will mix a very impressive cocktail. But the problem with the upstairs is as soon as more than 15 people enter it becomes shoulder to shoulder and looses all its charm. It's fun to have three different experience in one bar so in total it's a good bar.

My favorite injera lives here. I went with family and the staff was awesome. Fantastic food. ❤️ Can’t wait to go back.

Got there about three, it wasn't crowded. Really nothing but great experiences here, so I will be back. It has a cool feel to it. Feels like a cafe in Phoenix that I enjoyed visiting.

My first experience with Ethiopian food, and I was absolutely blown away! Everything had so much flavor, and the experience of using bread instead of utensils is super unique! Definitely coming back next time I'm in the city!

Kind of hidden treasure for Ethiopian food..... not fancy but great food and great customer service..... we did order meat combo with chicken and lamb and they were great ..... nice ambience with touch of Ethiopian look. Good Quantity for price and very friendly staff.... worth visiting..... they are open till 2am so if you are hungry after midnight in Philly city... great food for good price.... good variety of beer too.

Wanted to try some Ethiopian cuisine and this was the nearest one where we stayed. It didn’t look like restaurant from outside but as we entered it was fully packed. At least 15 min wait for the table to be seated and another 15-20 min wait for the food. But the food was worth the wait. The lamb curry(forgot what it was called) was mind blowing. Ended up licking my fingers. Loved the injera too. Cozy and nice but little crowded. The ladies who served food were very nice.

Absolutely worth the wait and the Adventure. Come with a group, order a combo and let them combine them into a plate the size of the table. Have a snack before you come to tide you over because the service is slow, but attentive. One server usually handles the dining room, but they are welcoming and understanding.

Abyssinia will always be one of my go-to restaurants when visiting. They've changed menus since the first time I've eaten there but the food is as good as I remember. I recommend the vegetarian combo and the #1 combo. If you're never had Ethiopian food before, this is a great place to become acquainted.

Ok, so this food was disgusting! The chicken was tough the meat was not edible. I feel sick to my stomach from eating the pureed vegetables.

For starters the place need an upgrade... the order taker was rude...put in for an takeout order spended 60 dollars and waited an 1 hr and 30 mins for food....also they cook the food in the BASEMENT! I really didn’t want to eat the food as I relieve the food was being cooked in the BASEMENT! The place is not clean I don’t understand how it got good reviews. The food was OK. Won’t be coming back here!

I bought injera (Ethiopian Bread), she told me it was 50% teff and 50 % wheat flour but it’s not. They should mention what they use for the injera because some places use flours that are not healthy. Be carful.
