A Taste of Heaven

Most people come here for the brunch and regular restaurant items which are fabulous,so don't get me wrong, but I strongly encourage you to take a cake or cupcake home with you. They are some of the absolute best in the city. I am a huge fan of the Janine Cake. You can taste every ingredient and not be overwhelmed by a gobsmack of sugar. All the cupcakes are amazing too, so if you're feeling like a cake is too big, go for those.

I am a California native and I visited. I had the blt and the garlic potatoes. The blt was good but could use maybe one more strip of bacon and maybe one more incident for more flavor- the guac was good but I think it needs sprouts or something else. The potatoes tasted good but I wish they were a little more crispier on the outside. Service was great. I went with a friend and they made sure to refill her coffee pretty often. All in all I will give it another shot soon!

My family visited from out of town so I took them here as a good introduction to great local chicago dining. It was a super packed nice Friday afternoon, there was 7 of us and no tables inside so we sat outside. Madelyn was our server and gave us the best and quickest service that we had all week in chicago. She was also super friendly and AMAZING with the child in our group. I was super proud to show them that our spot in the neighborhood is better than anywhere in all of chicago. All because of Madelyn! Please give that girl some flowers and chocolate or something she’s great :)

A while ago my friend told me about the scones.and asked me if I wanted one. I said no I'm good. I'm not a scone guy as I always thought they were dry and taste like a rock. She's like you have to try their scones because they're actually moist and delicious and I concur. Heated up with butter is also delicious!

Amazing food, first time here but everything looks awesome pastry also looks great and home made looking forward to come back soon!!!

Lovely little old-fashioned diner in the heart of a Chicago. I love that this place is 30+ years old. It is the kind of place that makes me nostalgic for the days yore...long before brunch became a thing. Sorry, no images because it is a place to drink oodles of drip coffee, order big eggs breakfast, and talk with your friends.

Beautiful place to visit from time to time and they have many options for dessert friendly stuff I recommend for everyone I tried other options were fantastic I like their coffee I always asked them double espresso with whipped cream delicious so nice

The food here is so good!! Every time I come in I am treated kindly and it is a pleasurable visit. The desserts are maddeningly delicious and I am OBSESSED with the red velvet cupcakes!! This is truly a neighborhood gem.

Was trying to order a birthday cake on a Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. within the business hours. I had called twice at 12 p.m earlier that day and the phone rang with a busy tone. Called at 3:30. Spoke with someone who said the restaurant was closed and then promptly hung up on me. Called back to see if I could just put a cake order in for Sunday (and I stated this before the 2nd hang up) to stay within the 48hr request requirement for cakes, got hung up on again. Cool I get it. The business is closed. I'm not trying to be annoying, just felt like the customer service was really lacking in this situation. If you're that closed, let the phone ring or send it to a machine, doesn't feel nice to get hung up on twice. Just not a great experience. Maybe go into the restaurant if you are trying to order a cake...or just try somewhere else.

We stopped by for a mid-afternoon snack. While we got some lighter breakfast fare, the entire menu sounded really delicious! Do check out their pastry and cake case inside (I wish I did!).

I judge every breakfast spot by their ability to make a good pancake! Yes, this is a bakery but I tell you this 7th day of March in the 2019th year of our Lord, I just had THE BEST pancakes I've had in a long time! And that was after they survived to 8min ride back to the office. Can't wait to go try more of their offerings. Sorry no pics but presentation not as pretty in a takeout box!

Love this place. I have never had a bad meal or dessert. The best French toast, buttermilk biscuits and German chocolate torte to name a few of my favorites. Highly recommend stopping in for a bite or grab a pastry or sweet to go.

So good! My dad and I recently started coming here for scones and coffees in the morning and have yet to try items from the full menu. The three cheese and blackberry scones are my favorites. I also love their hot chocolate, it’s very rich and creamy.

My wife and I have been going here for years although it has been a decade since my last visit. This year my wife suggested it for breakfast on my birthday. We started with coffee which was delicious. I had the biscuits and gravy special and it was phenomenal. I substituted the scrambled eggs over easy and they were cooked perfectly. My wife had the smoked salmon omelette. I had a bite and was not disappointed. The portions a large and either of the meals could have been split and we would have been satisfied. If you are going on the weekend go early. The waiting list was filling up when we left.
