It's a reasonably reliable option for a late night/early morning meal, but the prices are a little high for what you get, and the dishes are not particularly memorable.Where I come from, diner food is home cooking writ large and made with love. Diners are cross-generational meeting places, with regulars who have been coming their entire lives, and servers who know your name and your order, as soon as you walk in.City Diner is definitely not what I'd consider a diner. It's a relatively middle of the road restaurant/bar with slightly cramped seating.

We had a great service experience her at City Diner. Highly recommend! This diner has a huge, varied menu and serves breakfast all day. The food was delicious and worth to spend of. cool atmosphere and and has a friendly and nice staff.

Food was awesome and service great. The employee working in the “bakery” or “to go “ part was a delight! At the end of our meal I had looked at these cookies the entire time and had to get one. She was so friendly! And the cookie was amazing.

We really enjoyed the food. It's a convenient location. We ate here 2 times on our weekend visit and enjoyed everything we tried. The only negative is that the service is a bit slow or inattentive and, unless you get a booth, you'll be sitting close to the next table. The food comes quickly, so that's not a problem, they just take a bit of time to come around to take your order and may not check on you much. Interestingly, this was more noticeable when we came on a slow afternoon. It wouldn't keep me from coming again, it's just the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5.

What an AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!!! Being new to the area, upon checking the prices, I was skeptical. Boy, was I IMPRESSED. Not only was the SERVICE 5 STAR but the good was well worth the money. We were served by Dee who I can say is the sweetest ever. Not to mention honest. As well as the manager, Karen. They both were attentive and made sure our first experience was the best ever. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND CITY DINER & CANT WAIT TO BE BACK!!!!

Very good diner, open 24 hrs, decently priced and service was good at 2am. There were 8 of us and got seated super quickly. Waitress recommended the chicken avocado wrap with caramelized onions and it was absolutely scrumptious. Will go back for breakfast pancakes soon.

Good wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Service was so and the place was not full or even close to it. Waitress just kept walking by me without checking. Price was a little on the high side. It's not a traditional/classic diner. Contemporary motif. The waitress had never heard of a malted...

Excellent service. We sat down at a booth and I asked if we could move to a table with softer lighting. The waiter immediately went to the back and dimmed the lighting just a little. It was perfect! The wine servings were very generous! The rosemary chicken came with huge asparagus and lots of delicious garlic mashed potatoes. The simply salmon salad with arugula was excellent. Very light dressing and deliciously seasoned salmon. ALL of the wait staff were attentive and extremely professional!!!

good food, good location, friendly service. my only complaint is that the chocolate milk was $4.95 for a smaller sized glass which is $2 overpriced from a normal priced chocolate milk in my opinion. but good food with very large portions.

NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING! FOOD- SERVICE- ATMOSPHERE-LOCATION IS PERFECT. This place is one to visit if you haven't already...and become a regular...cause this is where I'll be coming on my Jersey City Visits from now on!

Stopped by on a Sunday morning for some fresh bagels. There was a line around the corner, but the wait was worth it. The fluffiest bagel I ever had. I got the everything bagel with Lox & Creme cheese. The owner was very friendly to talk to. This may be my new staple on Sundays.

Good vibes. Gotta get there ahead of the crowd to actually play shuffle board but it's a great time while you wait. A great place to go when you are with a group of people

The ambiance of this place is really great. Staff is really good and also the food is delicious. The best part is that the diner is 24hrs open, really great place to hangout with your friends.
