Excellent meal in a charming, historical context. Staff were flexible and helpful, and our server was attentive and generous. Though our main courses were excellent, the appetizers were the real star, especially the scallops and chanterelle mushrooms!

What a great restaurant! They have valet parking which is very convenient. The food was excellent. They serve three kinds of bread and they are delicious! I had the crab bisque as a starter, and for my meal I had halibut, shrimp, and scallop stew. My husband had steak and he was very pleased! We truly enjoyed our food, but sadly, we had no room for dessert! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Michael was absolutely great, just like the 2 appetizers (duck and scallops). The mains, cocktail and wine, however, lacked a bit of character. A $60 rack of lamb should be outstanding, not just good (the portion was generous though!)!Also, they dealt quite nicely with the AC that was dripping water on their customers' heads, but it quickly became clear that they are used to doing it, and should fix it... Overall, an excellent noise level, outstanding service and appetizers, but the mains should be slightly better given the price.

A visit to DC and Georgetown is incomplete without a wonderful and indulgent meal at one of my all-time favorites...

When we showed up, our table wasn’t ready even though we had a reservation, so I knew they were going to have to work for their review. And did they deliver! Excellent and attentive service, delicious food, and a coffee cheesecake I’m pretty sure was made with witchcraft because I could not stop eating it. Hats off to the new chef.

Best in the area. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff. This place is a hidden treasure. Definitely recommend if you are in this area. The staff is wonderful and the prices are reasonable. Can get crowded so get there early for the best spots. Nothing bad to say. Everything we had was very good.

We had a wonderful meal experience there. Great food, relaxed atmosphere, well versed wait staff who were attentive, but not obnoxious. Love a place that knows how to treat it's customers.

It was a nice experience for restaurant week. Had the wine pairing as well which went great with my dishes. Cozy environment and speedy service.

A fantastic dining experience. The environment is authentic, comfortably cluttered, and within ear shot of others enjoying their meal. I loved it. The fireplace adds to aroma of mushrooms and softly exposes the date night height of lighting. Service began with multiple members approaching the table, and recommendations from our server. The menu was thoughtful, seasonal, and had a wide variety. Not only are the ingredients and entrees deliberately crafted but the wine list adds complexity. Some may think the price is too much, and for some, sure, absolutely. But if you can afford it, even once, go with an empty stomach.

Ambiance was excellent in the Wickets room, but the dinner left me disappointed. My food was significantly over salted, and the prices were quite high. The desserts were the best part.

Great little historic restaurant tucked right next to Georgetown University. Their food all had a subtle roasted smokey flavor to it. You feel like you're stepping back in time when you walk in. It can feel a little cramped if you're waiting in the vestibule, so make an appointment to avoid the wait.

Questions & Answers

While they serve smaller plates at the bar, the "downstairs" pub and grill has a full grill menu which is different from the main rooms' superb menu, bit the grill is delicious, very popular, and most reasonable. Lots of locals, Hoyas, young and old, so quite diversified down the steps. Try it.

Yes and call to find out

Correct, no pizza..

It's actually the year John Carroll chartered Georgetown as an University. The building is from the 1850s or 60s

I used a gift certificate when i went, so yes, they offer gift certificates.

Yes

Jacket suggested not required.

Probably not. It's a tight space and often has reservations in advance. Though they probably do seat a total of at least 50 guests. Would be good to call and ask.
