I sincerely hope management reads this review. Today we waited over outside the restaurant for over 40 minutes to pick up a to-go order we called in. The reason? Over 10 people had crammed into the to-go lobby, with another 4+ outside, all to PLACE THEIR ORDER which we then witnessed the to-go employees have to bring outside to the customers who had also ordered a pitcher of beer and clearly had every intention of eating and drinking on-site. 12 Bones has allowed customers to circumvent the normal ordering line under the guise of 'to-go' which punishes local folks who just want to place and pick up an order for lunch. I love this food and eat here once a week - I will not come back until they return to the policy of 'no eating to-go orders on the premises' as right now it's an absolute train-wreck and a miserable experience.

Really great bbq spot! The corn pudding was warm, soft, and delicious. Green collards were tasty. The sliced brisket was a little dry but they had a sauce station that made up for it!

Really fantastic ribs that are just the right type of tender and right level of smoky. The sauced ribs aren't overly saucy either, and despite a healthy serving of ribs, they won't cause sluggishness or heaviness after the meal. Overall, incredibly stand-out, balanced flavours and a great example of North Carolina barbecue. The other items on the menu are equally good, including, but not limited to the juicy pulled pork and refreshing coleslaw. The ribs, as the name of restaurant implies, however, are the absolute centerpiece and must-have at 12 Bones.

The location is awesome. Just little disappointed in the ribs. Was expecting fall off the bone. They are a little chewy and dry. Liked the blueberry rub. Side items. Really good. Potatoe salad. Collards. Mac n cheese.

The food is good. It's loud and chaotic. The wait staff is rushed and tense. But the Mac and cheese is so very good. Great place for families, maybe not so good if you want quiet BBQ time.

Got a pulled pork plate with smoked potoato salad and Mac n cheese. Overall, thought it was a mediocre taste. Sides were bland and very plain with an overall abundant smoky taste. I would not recommend. I’ve had better BBQ in Raleigh.

Delicious BBQ! We were in the area checking out the art district studios nearby and saw the line of people out the door waiting. The line didn't move quickly... but if you order from the door that says 'carryout', you can take your food to the indoor or outdoor seating at The Wedge Brewery next door. They are happy to let you sit and eat if you buy a drink. The pulled pork, bake beans, and potato salad were great.
